Richemont Group's Sales Show Slight Improvement for Q3 Ended December 2020 - Monochrome Watches
Richemont Group, the luxury powerhouse behind Cartier, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, and more, like most conglomerates operating in the luxury industry, has been dramatically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic with sales down 16% over the first nine months of its current financial year (April-December 2020). Still, the group has released its quarterly report, concerning sales over the last three months of 2020. If the situation remains tense, in a continuously volatile environment, with a varied performance across regions, the overall situation seems to slowly recover, the group reporting sales up by 1% at actual exchange rates and by 5% at constant exchange rates compared to the prior year period. For the period October-December 2020, Richemont claims that worldwide sales progressed by 5% – EUR 4,186 million vs. EUR 4,156 million over the same period in 2019 – driven by 25% sales growth in Asia Pacific where robust results in China (+80%) more than offset declines in other Asian lo

Value Proposition: Jubileon Superellipse - designed in Singapore with Swiss Mechanical Movement for a very interesting Price - Monochrome Watches
We have been doing quite a few sweepstakes this year, and every time we ask you two or three questions. Why? We’d love to hear more from you and learn what you like a lot on Monochrome, what you would love to see more of and actually how we can serve you with your daily dose of horological content better. One of the things we learned is that many of our readers love to see some value propositions. Something we did maybe five or six times during the entire year of 2015, so this year we’re certainly improving on that! Our contributor Peter just wrote a story about a new watch brand from Singapore and they’re kickstarting their brand through Kickstarter. Here’e the Jubileon Superellipse…?Kickstarter is a popular platform for those seeking funding of new products. Occasionally we find interesting watch propositions that we cover (see other Kickstarter launches here). The Jubileon project immediately got our attention immediately, as the watch has an interestin
SIHH 2015 - The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Tradition Grande Complication - Monochrome Watches
With such a long and illustrious history of watchmaking at the very highest end of the scale behind it, Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced the Master Grande Tradition Grande Complication a few years back, and with it set out to capture the presence of its most exotic pocket watches, which were the reserve of the elite in the 19th century. The fruit of this effort appeared in the form of this veritable showcase of haute horlogerie, minutely detailed, bristling with complications and magnificent in every way.?Jaeger-LeCoultre have once again pulled out all the stops and lifted the cover on the superb 2015 Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Tradition Grande Complication. The 2015 Master Grande Tradition Grande Complication is quite simply breathtaking, and is testament to what can be achieved when big brand resources are available to plough into materials, machinery and man-hours. It is essentially created around the principles of sidereal time (an ancient scale devised by early astronomers in which
Introducing Vacheron Constantin Traditionelle Tourbillon Retrograde Openface (Live Pics)
As they say, if you've got it, flaunt it. Vacheron Constantin's latest combination of a tourbillon with a retrograde date display does just that and stages its refined mechanics in a contemporary, multi-level openworked dial. As a historic manufacture that listens to current trends, Vacheron Constantin welcomes another model into its traditional Traditionelle collection with an ultra-contemporary yet refined 21st-century aesthetic.Openworked or skeletonised watches are in vogue, no doubt about that, and we tend to think they are novel ways of exposing mechanical movements. However, if you're a company like Vacheron Constantin with a 268-year history, chances are you might even have a couple of openworked models in your archives. It turns out that VC did, in fact, have an openworked model in its archives in the form of a pocket watch with an astronomical calendar from 1918 (ref. 10937). Following a hiatus of almost 100 years, VC revisited the openworked dial concept with ref. 47247 in 2
