Weekly Watch Photo - Lange und Sohne Zeitwerk Striking Time - Monochrome Watches
The Weekly Watch Photo of this weeks shows an extraoridnary beautiful striking watch, the Lange und Sohne Zeitwerk Striking Time. Photographed by Peter Chong. Many watch aficionados where shocked, amazed, exilirated when the Lange und Sohne Zeitwerk was announced in May of 2009. The new Zeitwerk Striking Time has the same (for Lange und Sohne) unorthodox looks and features maybe the most beautiful way to incorporate a striking mechanism. Ad - Scroll to continue with article The Zeitwerk Striking Time is a so-called striking watch, which chimes every hour and quarter, unless turned off. The button at the 4 position enables the owner to select between strike or silent mode. When the strike mode is selected, the hammers and gongs will produce low notes on every hour and a high pitch notes on every quarter.Again my sincere thanks go out to Peter Chong for the excelle
IWC Portugieser Yacht Club Moon & Tide IW344001 (Price)
The IWC Portugieser was born in 1939 following a request from two Portuguese navigators and businessmen – Rodrigues and Teixeira – who wanted the precision of a marine chronometer in a wristwatch format. No need to say that this iconic IWC collection has strong ties to the nautical world. And to celebrate these roots, IWC is unveiling a new model today with an unprecedented complication that couldn’t be more appropriate: a tide indication. Encased in a sporty and large case, meet the new IWC Portugieser Yacht Club Moon & Tide.?Introduced in 2010, the IWC Portugieser Yacht Club is a sports model in this rather elegant collection, with its nautical, yachting, regatta-ready note. More robust, larger, a bit more rugged and bulky, it has mostly favoured one complication until now, the chronograph – a world timer has also been available in the past. A versatile watch, capable of timing a sailing race but also at ease with a drink at the marina. In addition to the
Baselworld 2017 - Porsche Design Monobloc Actuator 24H-Chronotimer - Hands-on with Photos, Specs and Price - Monochrome Watches
The history of Porsche Design is intertwined with the legendary car brand that?sprouted from the same creative mind, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche. Since the very beginning the link between Porsche Design watches and motorsports was there, and not just as a marketing link. No, Porsche Design’s first wrist watch, the Porsche Design Chronograph 1, was a black PVD coated watch and that was rather disturbing back in the early seventies. And so was the chronograph that the brand introduced in 1980, which was the world’s first chronograph in titanium – a material widely used in the watch industry now-a-days, but a few decades ago it wasn’t. Today we’re showing you Porsche Design’s latest watch?that is again inspired by the world of motor sports, and in this case directly links to the brand new (mighty) Porsche 911 RSR. However it also strongly reminds us of that very first Titanium Chronograph from 1980. Let’s have a look at the new Porsche Design Mono

Introducing the Ulysse Anchor Escapement - Monochrome Watches
Earlier this year at Baselworld, Ulysse Nardin introduced an entirely new escapement that is referred to as the Ulysse Anchor Escapement. While its name does not immediately give away what it’s all about, it can best be seen in relation to previous ground-breaking developments of the brand, who were the first to introduce a silicon escapement wheel, and for that matter silicon in a wrist watch movement. That was with the introduction of the Freak, back in 2001. Fast forward to the December 2012, when Monochrome broke the story of Girard-Perregaux’s new silicon escapement (and we’re not just talking about the escape wheel or pallet fork, but about the entire escapement) we immediately recognized the potential game-changing qualities. Ulysse Nardin’s new Ulysse Anchor Escapement works in more or less a similar way, and we believe it holds equal, or more, game-changing properties. Let us explain what the new escapement actually is, and why it is, potentially, such
