Bell & Ross has a nice collection of military watches which are sturdy and elegant. This BRV192-MIL-ST/SCA has a circular frame which emphasizes the black dial. The hands have a touch of soft Superluminova and glide smoothly over the jet black dial. The crystal has an ultra-curved sapphire which has a non-reflective coating on it. The same Superluminova is coated on the indices to make the dial look less intimidating.

Hands-On: The Maen Skymaster 38 MKIII, a Cool & Accessible Racing Chronograph
Racing chronographs… It might not be as packed as a category as dive watches, but in all fairness, finding the right one for you is not going to be a walk in the park. Hundreds of alternatives (and good ones, on top of that) exist, ranging from affordable quartz models to attainable Swiss mechanical options, followed by classic luxury icons or high-end watches with basically no limit of price. But let’s say you’re looking for a cool, compact, vintage-oriented racing chronograph with a timeless appeal, powered by a reliable mechanical movement… In that case, the Stockholm-based, Dutch-rooted microbrand Maen might have a very compelling solution for you: the third iteration of its chronograph collection, the Skymaster 38 MKIII.?By no means competitors, but you’ll get the racing chronograph vibe and inspiration…Even if we narrow down our search for a racing chronograph to accessible watches powered by mechanical movements, there are still dozens of watc
Interview With Pim Koeslag, CEO of Ateliers deMonaco Watches
From the Prince of Qatar to the Prince of Monaco, and from one of the biggest watch collectors in the world to a descendant from the famous violin builder Stradivarius, watch lovers are finding their way to Ateliers deMonaco. Founder and master-watchmaker Pim Koeslag, also Frederique Constant’s Technical Director, even managed to get his brand the much-coveted Geneva Seal, a major feat for a watch brand of barely 10 years old. We spoke to Pim Koeslag at the introduction of his brand at Reijersen Juweliers in Oudewater, The Netherlands, one of the few points of sale for Ateliers deMonaco.Melinda Braaksma, for MONOCHROME – Technique and design are the two pillars that Ateliers deMonaco is founded on. How does one keep innovating, when so much has already been invented?Pim Koeslag – CEO of Ateliers deMonaco – We are not looking for another double or triple tourbillon; innovations have to make sense. We seek to simplify in order to improve the accuracy of a watch or
Industry Richemont Confirms Sales Growth in Q4 2021
Following the announcement a few months ago of its strong performance over the 6 first months of its fiscal year, Richemont today released its sales figures for the third quarter ended 31 December 2021 – remember that Richemont closes its books on 31 March – and once again confirms the trend seen over the past year, with recovery of sales in mind following the massive drop due to the pandemic. With sales up?by 32% at constant exchange rates compared to the same period last year, and?third-quarter sales up by 38% compared to 2019, it even surpasses the pre-pandemic levels (also driven by the integration of new businesses, however).?Overall, all business areas and all regions show double-digit sales growth, with the strongest performance from the Americas and Europe, rebalancing regional sales mix. Indeed, in Europe sales are up by 42% at constant exchange rate compared to the same period last year, and up by 12% compared to numbers of pre-pandemic. Europe this become the sec
The Ateliers deMonaco Admiral Chronograph Flyback Saphir - Monochrome Watches
If some of you might know this watch manufacture by now (thanks to a?coverage here, at Monochrome),?Ateliers deMonaco is clearly not the most famous of them all… Which, in all honesty, is rather a pity, as the brand has a lot to offer. Forget about the affiliation with the Frederique Constant Group.?Ateliers deMonaco plays in a different league (with a collection that comprises tourbillons, minute repeaters or Hallmark of Geneva watches…) and their latest creation has some appeal, both?aesthetically?and technically. Here is our review of the?Ateliers deMonaco Admiral Chronograph Flyback Saphir.About the?Ateliers deMonaco brandAteliers deMonaco has been created in 2008, by Peter Stas and his head of watchmaking,?Pim Koeslag (now CEO of the brand), as a sister company of Frederique Constant. While the latter plays on the “accessible luxury” trend, by offering watches with nice technical content, in-house movements or even the cheapest perpetual calendar on the mar

Two years ago, in 2013, Carl F. Bucherer launched a new watch, the Manero PowerReserve, housing the in-house CFB A1011 movement. This manufacture movement is based on their highly appreciated and accurate automatic movement, calibre CFB A1000. The CFB A1011 features a date and day indication, an innovative shock absorbing system, a unique automatic winding system something that makes this watch rather unique), and a power reserve indicator. We just had the Carl F Bucherer Manero PowerReserve in for several weeks, to review it. In this report we share our findings after using/wearing the watch on a daily basis.Carl F. Bucherer? Who? Isn't that a retail store selling high-end watches? If you have ever been to one of Switzerlands' cities, such as Geneva, Lausanne, Zermatt, Zurich, St. Gallen, or St. Moritz (or Paris, Frankfurt, Berlin, Munich and Vienna) you may have seen the stores of Bucherer. Bucherer sells many high-end watches, including A. Lange & Sohne, Parmigiani, H Moser&C
