Frank and his Vintage Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 'Jumbo' 5402ST - Monochrome Watches
Today, we’ll get straight to the point and speak frankly and honestly. Frank, Founder and Managing Director of MONOCHROME, whom I’ve known for more than seven years now, is probably one of the most upfront and straightforward people I’ve ever met: Frank is a man who says what he thinks. And today we’ll talk about one of his most beloved watches, one that he’s owned for years and that I’ve always wanted to feature in our ‘Collector’s Series’, his handsome Audemars Piguet Royal Oak ‘Jumbo’ 5402ST. And because this watch is such an icon, it doesn’t really need an introduction anymore. Instead, we’ll be looking at what really matters, the collecting side of things, the market, the fuzz around the watch… Today the ‘Collector’s Series’ goes wild and I’m happy to have Frank on board for this new instalment. Fasten your seatbelts and let’s get to it! Ad - Scroll to conti
Buying Guide: Less Is More With Six Hour-Minute-Small-Second Watches
We often discuss trends and hypes in watchmaking, as we tend to focus on “What’s next?!?” instead of settling down for a second and appreciating something classical, something timeless. In recent times it’s all been about luxury sports watches, downsized cases, specific colours or natural stone dials and so on. But there’s a comforting red line throughout watchmaking that seems to never disappoint; the simple time-only watch. Toning things down to the bare minimum can be very comforting as the style will never go out of fashion. However, as these six watches perfectly demonstrate, it doesn’t have to be boring or plain for even a second! With that said, let’s take a closer look at some of the most refreshing Hours-Minutes-Small-Seconds watches we’ve recently come across!Schwarz-Etienne Geometry BlackThe beauty of the Schwarz Etienne Geometry lies in its dial, whether it’s finished in silver, salmon, cherry red, or more recently; matt
RGM Model 600-B Chronograph Blue Dial (Specs & Price)
American watchmaker RGM introduced its Model 600 Chronograph last year with inspiration from military pilot watches from the 1960s and 1970s. It had a straightforward design with a black dial, bi-compax layout and no date and joined the rising trend of military-inspired chronographs like the Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic Chronograph and Longines Avigation BigEye. Blue dials are really trending as well and Longines recently introduced the Avigation BigEye Titanium with a gradient blue dial, trading a bit of authenticity for style. The indie watchmaker is following suit with the RGM Model 600-B and a striking sunray blue dial.?The chronograph is part of RGM's broader pilot collection that house ETA movements in lieu of in-house calibres. This allows for more accessible pieces that still showcase the brand's quality and design prowess. The case is stainless steel with a brushed finish (polished bezel) and contemporary size – 42mm in diameter and 14mm in height with crystal. That cr

Vacheron Constantin Historiques American 1921 Mid-Size Model Unisex 36.5mm (With Price)
In 2009, Vacheron Constantin unveiled the Historiques American 1921, a re-edition of one of its classic timepieces from the Art Deco period that was made exclusively for the North American market. A highly desirable watch, it pays homage to what is, without doubt, one of the most beautiful yet original Vacheron Constantin models ever made. Despite its modest (on paper) 40mm size, the squared case wears quite large on the wrist, discouraging some collectors. Listening to this feedback, the brand announced today that the Historiques American 1921 will now also be available in a mid-size, unisex version with a case measuring 36.5mm. Read on for all the details. The Original Re-EditionAs a quick refresher for those not familiar with the collection, the American 1921 is part of Vacheron Constantin's Historiques collection, which presents modern versions of distinctive watches from the firm's 254-year history. The Historique American 1921 is not actually based on a single Vacheron Constantin
