IWC Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month Titanium IW381802 (Specs & Price)
Surprising changes occurred when IWC decided to revamp its iconic Ingenieur collection in 2016. For one, the robust “Genta-esque” case was abandoned and replaced with the original design of the 1960s models. Among the inaugural models were some 3-hand watches and chronographs. And on top of the range was the complex Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month, combining a QP and a flyback chronograph. This watch, available until now only in gold with a white dial, now comes in a new, lighter, more casual version with a grey dial and titanium case under ref. IW381802.The new version that IWC is introducing today is nothing more than an update of colours and materials, as all the specifications and mechanical parts are identical. For this 100-piece limited run of the Titanium ref. IW381802, IWC has opted for a new colour combination, with a sunray brushed slate grey dial echoing the greyish tint of the titanium case. The apertures for the digital QP are white for greater
Ressence Type 2 e-Crown - The Final Version with Anthracite Case - Monochrome Watches
Last year, at the SIHH 2018, Ressence introduced something very special! While the brand has been all about mechanical modules that display the time in a very unique way, the?Ressence Type 2 added some connected functionalities to the package – no worries, it has nothing to do with a step counter or a conversation with a phone. It was unique, unprecedented and (very) clever. This watch features an “e-Crown”, making it the first self-setting mechanical watch (and yes,?Smart-Tech can make sense). After the initial concept, here is the final version of the?Ressence Type 2 e-Crown, now with an anthracite case and various updates. The base conceptThe crown, a mechanism to wind and to adjust watches, was invented by Adrien Philippe (co-founder along with Antoni Patek of Patek Philippe) in 1842 and has been an unchallenged standard ever since!?We use it without thinking to wind the movement or to adjust the time. It has become so natural that no one even thought that it would
Hands-On: The Tuseno Windseeker, A Serious All-Rounder Watch at a Fair Price
Recently, we’ve introduced a rather promising all-rounder watch coming from the North, the Windseeker made by a young Swedish micro-brand named Tuseno Watches. On paper, everything seemed good: nice design, an extensive list of specs, a pleasant blend of casualness and refinement, a Swiss movement and a truly attractive price. But that was on paper. So we decided to put this Tuseno Windseeker to a real-life test. Having the watch in the studio, we can now deliver an objective view of the watch… and it did not disappoint.?Like many micro-brands these days, Tuseno Watches does not originate from one of the traditional hubs of watchmaking – Switzerland, Germany, Japan… Instead, Tuseno started as a project in 2015 in the city of Gothenburg, Sweden. We’ve said it many times: watchmaking was and still is global. Tuseno operations are based in this Northern country, with parts produced in Asia and Switzerland, the latter also being the place where the watches are
Hands-on Certina DS Super PH500M Sea Turtle Conservancy (Price)
Certina’s turtle logo is a symbol of resilience and was inspired by the brand’s Double Security or DS Concept, first incorporated inside a shock-resistant automatic 200m water-resistant watch of 1959. The turtle logo also provided a natural bridge to Certina’s involvement with the Florida-based Sea Turtle Conservancy (STC), the world’s oldest sea turtle research and conservation group founded in the same year as Certina’s DS Concept. For 2022, the annual STC edition has been picked from the Certina DS Super PH500M family, combining vintage flair with a bright royal blue shell and a matching strap made from recycled ocean plastic. The DS Super PH500M takes inspiration from a 1960s model that was used in the Tektite I programme (1969-1970), in which aquanauts lived in an underwater habitat for prolonged periods of time to conduct saturation diving missions and study the effect of closed environments on human biology and psychology. First Look: The Vacheron Constantin Patrimony x Ora ?to for the Model's 20 years
Vacheron Constantin celebrates the 20th anniversary of its Patrimony collection with a special edition produced in collaboration with French designer Ito Morabito, more widely known as Ora ?to. The understated soul of the Patrimony is inspired by Vacheron’s slim men’s dress watches of the 1950s, a formula applied across the board to all Patrimony references. As the epitome of technical complexity married to restrained style, the Patrimony is a natural partner for Ora ?to, whose designs are directed by his pursuit of providing simple responses to complex problems. Produced in a limited edition of 100 pieces, the Patrimony x Ora ?to comes in a 40mm yellow gold case with a mesmerising dial composed of concentric circles.Introduced in 2004, Vacheron Constantin's Patrimony collection took its design cues from the brand's ultra-slim 1950s timepieces. Famous manual-winding movements like the 2.94mm thick calibre 1001 and the 1.64mm thick calibre 1003, powering the references 6179
