Bell & Ross BR 05 GMT - Hands-On Review, Price
Bell & Ross is well-known for the “circle within a square” design aesthetics, initiated by the BR 01 and BR 03 collections. While the brand produces fully round watches too, the square cases have been exemplary in creating an instantly recognizable range of watches. In 2019 the brand launched the BR 05 collection, a more contemporary, softer style of the square case, with clear “luxury sports watch” inspiration. Prior to now, this collection consisted of time-and-date and chronograph models in various configurations. Today, Bell & Ross launches the third BR 05 line, with the new Bell & Ross BR 05 GMT.BackgroundIntroducing the GMT function to the BR 05 makes perfect sense if you look at the history of Bell & Ross. The addition of being able to set your watch to a second time zone has been part of the BR 03 and the BR V2 collections for a long time, in multiple iterations. Some watches even allow you to keep track of three different time zones alto
The Return of the Oris Rectangular for the 2021 Collection
Perhaps not the best-known collection at Oris, the Rectangular is back with new proportions, colourful dials and straps. A classic dress watch with smooth Art Deco lines, the latest case size of the Oris Rectangular is designed to appeal to men and women alike. If you go to the Oris website and browse the Rectangular collection, you will see four models pop up, the four new models we are covering in this article. However, if you do a generic search for the Oris Rectangular model, some links will take you back to an older Oris website displaying a host of Rectangular models ranging from date, chronograph, GMT and even women's models. The point being that the Rectangular family is not new, although it is hard to establish the exact year of its debut. Be that as it may, the Rectangular is a stylish dress watch with some of the seriousness of classic rectangular watches (JLC Reverso, Cartier Tank) mitigated by its colourful dials and straps. Bell & Ross WW2 Regulateur Officer - Full review (live photos, specs & price) - Monochrome-Watches
Bell & Ross introduced the WW2 collection a couple of years back with their military inspired WW2 Regulateur, known at that time as the Regulateur Bomber. They've dropped that name, for quite obvious reasons I can imagine, now they bring a new edition that is a little more sophisticated than the original: the Bell & Ross WW2 Regulateur Officer. Here is the full review after several weeks on the wrist. The first Bell & Ross WW2 Regulateur, introduced during Baselworld 2012, was inspired by an old bomb-timer that pilots used to have strapped to their leg. This timing instrument was used to time the release of a bomb as exact as possible to obtain their objectives and destroy their designated targets (these watches are a specific kind of navigation tools. You can read our in-depth history of pilot watches here: part 1 - part 2 - part 3 - part 4 - part 5). No high-tech GPS wizardry or computer guided smart-bombs were available yet so the pilots had to rely on their own basic ins
Watches and Formula 1 - Episode 7 - Williams F1 and Oris - Monochrome Watches
40 years, for some this feels like an eternity (I am only 33 years old) and for others it feels like next to nothing. Making it 40 years in life doesn't require too much effort if you have no serious challenges. But to make it 40 years in the grueling sport of Formula 1 takes skill, determination, luck, good judgment, a lot of money and a clear vision. One of the most illustrious names in the business is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, so it is only fitting to include it into our Watches & Formula 1 saga; Williams F1 and their long-term watch partner, Oris.Founded by Sir Frank Williams and Sir Patrick Head, the team started in an old carpet warehouse in Didcot, Oxfordshire (UK) in 1977. Prior to that Sir Frank Williams was pushing drivers in F2 and F3000 series, and he subsequently started venturing into F1 in 1969. Fielding a Brabham BT26A with the iconic Ford DFV 3.0 V8 and long-time friend Piers Courage behind the wheel, they scored two second place finishes! A year
