Maen, Reiser and Batavi provide honest, fun luxury sports watches
The luxury sports watch, preferably with an integrated design, has exploded in recent years. Both in contenders and in sales, as more and more brands enter this hotter-than-hot segment of the market. Regular faces and newcomers all want a piece of the action, and this leads to surprising new options to choose from. Today we're looking at three such watches on the more affordable side of the spectrum. And chauvinistic as we are sometimes, we've gone for three brands with Dutch ties to show you there are still plenty of fun watches to be found if you're willing to look beyond the usual suspects. Here are the new Maen Manhattan 37, the Reiser Alpen Skeleton and the Batavi Architect Tony Purple. ?Why so serious? We've said it time and time again: watches, to us, should be fun. They should bring joy to the owner, and an experience to remember for a long time if possible. I'm sure most of us remember the feeling of first seeing a watch, then hunting it down or waiting for it to be available,
The 2022 Longines Evidenza With Sector Dials (Specs, Price)
Longines certainly knows how to bring its historical models back to life. Most of these attractive vintage-inspired models are congregated in the Heritage collection, including the Classic Sector Dial, the Tuxedo Chronograph?and the Legend Diver. Historical designs are not the exclusivity of this collection, however, and the brand with the winged hourglass logo often includes them in its more traditional ranges. Case in point, the new Longines Evidenza collection of tonneau-shaped models for 2022, which now comes equipped with elegant and vintage-ish sector dials. And in a wide array of colours. The Longines Evidenza might not be the most sought-after collection of the brand, but it has a legitimate background and is a reinterpretation of a tonneau-shaped model launched over a century ago. Simple, slightly different, and very elegant, it is meant to fit men’s and women’s wrists with its compact dimensions. The case is 26mm in width and just over 30mm in length. Small on pape
Introducing: The New 2024 Speedmaster First Omega In Space (FOiS)
Without a doubt,?one of the most iconic chronographs ever produced by the Swiss watchmaking industry is the Omega Speedmaster,?born in 1957 (as part of a trilogy of Master watches). However, the Speedmaster shot to notoriety in 1969 when the watch landed on the Moon as part of the Apollo 11 mission – earning its title as the Moonwatch. However, before it became flight-qualified by NASA and before it became the watch on the Moon, the space story of the Speedmaster took shape gradually, just like the American Space programmes. And it all started 62 years ago, on October 3rd, 1962, onboard the Mercury-Atlas 8 mission, on the wrist of astronaut Walter “Wally” Schirra, wearing what would become “the first Omega in Space.” In 2012, Omega released a special edition Speedmaster FOiS, discontinued in 2021. But lo and behold, the Speedmaster First Omega in Space is back in 2024, with tons of vintage touches, a modern movement and a surprising grey-blue dial.THE FIRS
Christmas GIVE AWAY: 10 x Montblanc for Monochrome Watch Pouch - Monochrome Watches
Here’s the last give-away for the year, the last 10th anniversary give-away and we’re super happy that Montblanc generously volunteered to customize 10 watch pouches for this rather unique give-away. These beautiful leather watch pouches are not for sale in Montblanc boutiques, and cannot be bought anywhere. And now there are ten embossed with the Monochrome logo, and they are for you.?These watch pouches, or travel watch rolls, for two watches are made of so-called sartorial' leather. You can strap two of your watches each around one of two cushions inside, and close the flap with a press stug with Montblanc logo. Earlier this year, in June, we already gave away one of these, and the number of responses was A) very high and B) so enthusiastic, that we decided to ask Montblanc once again… and they proposed to make ten pieces embossed with the Monochrome logo. In terms of quality and make, these pouches are absolutely great. Personally I c
What would you do? Potential investment? - Monochrome Watches
Last year Panerai introduced two Special Editions with a vintage Minerva movement; the?rose gold PAM00398 and the stainless steel PAM00399. These are Radiomir variations with more solid lugs and a a different crown, however with the recognizable cusion-shape case. Already during the SIHH it was clear that there was a small mistake, because “stainless steeel” was engraved with one too many e’s. A painfull mistake one might think, however this is also how they have been delivered to some customers! Yes,?again a?painfull mistake. However… maybe this mistake will turn out to be a good investment?
