In our search for new and surprising independent watchmakers to share with you, we come across many different styles, ranging from highly classical to contemporary and expressive. In recent months we have discovered watches by Alexandre Hazemann, Minhoon Yoo, The¨® Levaltier and several others. All of these struck us in one way or another, which after some digging, often results in fascinating stories. Next up is a watchmaker from the north of Germany, who started out as a supplier for the industry and is now making a very cool Art Deco wristwatch! Let’s meet Thomas Schnelle, shall we?Thomas, can you quickly introduce yourself and explain a bit of your background as a watchmaker? Introducing the Omega Seamaster 300 SPECTRE Limited Edition (specs & price) - Monochrome-Watches
We've knew about it for a while. We showed it to you a few months ago when we spotted Daniel Craig wearing an Omega Seamaster 300 with a NATO strap – and then the official poster for?the latest 007 James Bond movie, Spectre, definitely gave us the answer. Now it is official and here is the?Omega Seamaster 300 SPECTRE Limited Edition that Daniel Craig will be sporting on its wrist – and it comes with small but quite cool unique features (sorry but no, there’s no laser on it).You probably all know about the Omega Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial, a watch that we loved at first sight here, for many reasons. First of all, it is a faithful but also modern re-edition of one of Omega’s greatest watches, the Seamaster 300m CK2913. The design of the new?Omega Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial is clearly inspired by its vintage predecessor (with its straight lugs, its triangular indexes slightly recessed in the dial, the bezel with a black insert). The?parentage between these tw
Diving The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms X Fathoms Underwater
It's impossible to talk about the modern scuba diving watch and its evolution without talking about Blancpain. As one of the earliest creators of the purpose-built tool watch, they are responsible for multiple innovations in the field, including using an o-ring to seal the case back, and a pioneering crown seal system. Their name belongs right up there with the likes of and Omega and Panerai when discussing the inception of the dive watch as we know and love it today. And to see if Blancpain can still hold its own in the world of dive watches, we go diving with the all-mighty Blancpain Fifty Fathoms X Fathoms.HistoryBlancpain was founded in 1735 when Jehan-Jacques Blancpain registered himself as a watchmaker in the village records in Villeret, a small Swiss village in the picturesque Jura Mountains. The company would remain in the Blancpain family for the next seven generations, becoming the largest watch manufacturer in Villeret. Upon the death of Frederic-Emile Blancpain in 1932, a
Hands-On - The new Louis Moinet Memoris Spirit (Specs & Price)
The Memoris was initially introduced?in 2016 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Ateliers Louis Moinet and the 200th anniversary of the Compteur de Tierces, the innovative stopwatch created by the eponymous watchmaker. Instead of revealing the chronograph movement on the caseback, the Memoris transposes the chronograph mechanism to the dial. During Watches and Wonders 2022, the model returns in a modernised version marking a fitting design direction for the independent watchmaking brand. Meet the Louis Moinet Memoris Spirit. The Louis Moinet Memoris was designed as a tribute to the creation of a historic Louis Moinet creation, the Compteurs de Tierces. According to the markings on the case, this remarkable stopwatch was designed in 1815-1816 to time the passage of the stars – it measures time intervals to the 60th of a second with start, stop and reset functions. To reach this impressive precision, its balance wheel beats at a staggering 216,000 vibrations per hour!
