Taming the Seas with the McGonigle Brothers! - Monochrome Watches
The AHCI candidate members and brothers, John and Stephen McGonigle have turned a central Irish town into a haven for high horology and a passion for the sea into a muse! All literature as we know it today boils down to traditional story telling; taking what is and distilling it into a form that makes it appealing so that the moral will last for generations to come. Homer's Odyssey is the product of thousands of years of story telling, written down into verse so that the story could no longer be added to or taken away from. In it, Odysseus is pitted against one form of torment after another - some taking monstrous forms some taking seductive forms. The New Ballon Bleu de Cartier 40mm with Interchangeable Bracelet System - Monochrome Watches
In a world dominated by round wristwatches, Cartier has historically been a bit of an outsider, gaining tremendous success with its resolutely non-round case designs that include the likes of the Tank, Crash, Tonneau, and Cloche. That changed in 2007 with the release of the Ballon Bleu de Cartier, a watch that was unmistakably Cartier despite its round shape. This year, just before the start of Watches & Wonders, Cartier has unveiled a 40mm version of the Ballon Bleu de Cartier with a bracelet and clasp upgrade. The 2021 Ballon Bleu de Cartier in 40mm retains the same case design as the rest of the Ballon Bleu collection. That means it is a round watch all in high polish with a domed bezel and rather short lugs, which makes it an easy wear even on smaller wrists. The bezel seamlessly blends into a crown guard that entirely encircles the crown (think Panerai, but more fluid), which is inset with a spinel cabochon and beaded on its circumference for easier manipulation. Close Up - The TAG Heuer OnlyWatch Carbon Monaco
In light of the ninth edition of the Only Watch charity event, where exceptional one-off watches are donated and auctioned to raise funds in the fight against Duchene Muscular Dystrophy, TAG Heuer presents a rather remarkable watch. It’s astounding not only because of its looks, channelling a historical and highly sought-after vintage Heuer Monaco, but even more so because of the extensive use of carbon fibre almost everywhere, even inside the movement. For Only Watch 2021, and allegedly for one time only, the carbon fibre hairspring returns in the TAG Heuer OnlyWatch Carbon Monaco. The Heuer Monaco is a true watchmaking icon and, without a doubt, one of the most recognizable watches on the planet. The square-cased watch is highly regarded as one of the strongest designs ever created. Of course, it helped that a cinematic legend named Steve McQueen wore it on the big screen, but watches with a status like the Monaco are rare within the industry. Ad - Scroll to continue
