Taking a look at the brilliant GTO Engineering California Spyder Revival
What if I told you, you can own one of the most desired and rare Ferrari convertibles ever made, for a fraction of what it's actually worth? You'd be having a laugh, right? Or at least think I was a bit out there. But truth be told there is a way to own a Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder SWB for the measly sum of 1 million USD. And that, my fellow Petrolheads, is a bargain considering the value of an actual Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder SWB is about 16 times that. How is this possible? Through an as close to perfect as you can get Revival program by UK-based Ferrari specialists GTO Engineering. Now, in all fairness, this intro is to be taken lightly of course. About 99.9% of us will never be able to shell out a million dollars for a car, let alone 18 million for one. That is only something to be considered by the 1 per cent, of the 1 per cent of the very rich. But as the past revival or resto-mod projects we’ve featured have taught us the price usually goes up by quite a margin

First Look: The New IWC Ingenieur Automatic 35
IWC's Ingenieur collection has been slated for growth this year, welcoming new sizes, materials, and complications. Representing the most compact member of the family to date, the new 35mm Ingenieur is a smart move to conquer more wrist sizes in the ever-expanding unisex sector. Presented in three variants, the smallest descendants of Gerald Genta's design for the Ingenieur uphold their heritage in style. In 2023, IWC staged the return of a famous watch designed by Gerald Genta in 1976, the Ingenieur SL reference 1832 or Jumbo, as it came to be known because of its large 40mm case. The first Ingenieur model of 1955 was deceptively classic, with no telltale signs of the robust soft-iron cage protecting the movement from electromagnetic fields. Adopted by scientists and engineers, the demure looks of the Ingenieur were given a radical makeover by Genta, transforming it into his vision of a luxury sports watch. With its large 40mm case (to accommodate the protective case), a wide bored bez
The Affordable But Greatly Executed Orient Bambino 38 (Price)
The Bambino has been one of the best-selling collections of Japanese watchmaker Orient for years. Introduced a few weeks ago, the new versions of the model stand out with their more compact case – 38.4mm versus 40.5mm previously. We had been quite intrigued by the looks and specs of this automatic dress watch retailing at just EUR 275. So we thought we would ask for a model to review And, without making too much noise, it's typically a watch that looks and feels far more expensive than what it actually costs! You'll often hear the concept of “value proposition” when talking about accessible watches. It's a bit of a complex term, as for instance the Seamaster 300M Diver Master Chronometer can be considered one when looking at everything it offers considering its price. The notion of price is relative, of course, but in the context of truly affordable mechanical watches, serious alternatives are basically worst-kept secrets. Seiko with the past-generation 5 Series and th
The new Patek Philippe Nautilus 5811/1G replaces the 5711.
The news that watch aficionados and the whole industry were expecting is finally out. A couple of years ago, the rumour that the 5711, the time-and-date Nautilus, one of the most sought-after watches and an icon of high-end horology and style, would be discontinued started to spread. Not long after, the rumour was confirmed by Patek Philippe, with several continuation models to be released regardless (with a green dial?or Tiffany blue). The 5711 now has a successor available exclusively in gold and with several updates: meet the new Patek Philippe Nautilus 5811/1G-001.First and foremost, the new time-and-date Patek Philippe Nautilus, the reference 5811/1G-001, looks a lot like the 5711 but comes with several updates. The first change relates to its diameter. The case design is familiar but has grown slightly from 40mm to 41mm. In line with what Thierry Stern had stated, the case is available only in gold and not steel. An interesting throwback to the original 1976 reference 3700 Nautil
