Two Monochrome Editions by Harry Winston - Monochrome Watches
A few months ago, we at Monochrome received a call that blew our socks off. The guys and gals from Harry Winston had some great news they wanted to share with us. In preparation for this year's Baselworld, they were looking to do something special besides the annual Opus timepiece. The final suggestion was to debut two watches, one of them being an elegant dress watch and the other a more expressive timepiece.That's how we would have liked to have started this story, but sadly that is not the reality. However we do feel quite privileged to have a Harry Winston watch bearing our online magazine’s name. And the best part is, there is not just one, but two of them out there! Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon for the 85th anniversary (live photos) - Monochrome Watches
Jaeger-LeCoultre already proved that they are capable of?housing a Gyrotourbillon in a dress watch. But it was a big watch, measuring 55mm by 36mm. The platinum case added to the weight. At the 85th birthday of the Reverso they have taken the combination to the next level by trimming width and thickness by 30%. The patent described a watch that can slide on its base and flip over on itself. Over time, the Reverso has become an icon of the watch industry and arguably Jaeger-LeCoultre's most famous watch. Pre Baselworld 2014: Introducing the Ulysse Nardin Dual Time Manufacture with In-House Movement - Monochrome Watches
For many years Ulysse Nardin have been making one of the most convenient dual time zone watches in the market. Typically one of Ludwig Oechslin’s inventions, which makes it possible to adjust the second time zone and DATE both forward and backward! During Baselworld 2014 Ulysse Nardin will launch the newest version featuring their in-house movement: the Dual Time Manufacture. Earlier Ulysse Nardin already equipped the Marine collection with the new in-house movement, that utilizes silicon for both the escapement (anchor, escape wheel and roller) and hairspring. Caliber UN-334 beats at a steady pace of 4 Hz (28,800 vph) and has a power reserve of 48 hours. This movement has been developed and manufactured entirely in-house. The new Dual Time Manufacture comes in 4 different flavors: the case is made in stainless steel or 18 karat rose gold, and each version has two choices of dials: silver or black.
