A. Lange & Sohne 1815 Rattrapante Honeygold "Homage to F. A. Lange"
Today, A. Lange & Sohne releases a trilogy of limited edition watches to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the foundation of the Saxon brand by F. A. Lange in 1815. The Rattrapante Honeygold is perhaps the most special watch in the trilogy because it is ‘new’. Admittedly, we've seen the rattrapante combined with a perpetual calendar in the past, but this is the first time Lange lets the rattrapante occupy centre stage, highlighting a complication that incarnates the very essence of a high-end chronograph. Like the other two pieces released in this commemorative “Homage to F. A. Lange” trilogy – 1815 Thin and 1815 Tourbograph Perpetual – the Rattrapante is housed in a Honeygold case, has special finishes on the movement and is a member of the 1815 watch family. Although this anniversary model is clearly aimed at collectors, it might, it just might be a harbinger of a regular production model in the future (fingers crossed).?Lange's chronographsSi
The new IWC Pilots Watch Mark XVIII - The Definition of a Classic Re-visited - Monochrome Watches
It is an undeniable fact that the IWC Mark (Mk) is one of the most important military/aviation watches ever created. What started as a life saving tool watch for the navigators and flying officers of the British RAF transformed, as all mechanical watches have, into an elegant wristwatch, which in parallel keeps all the qualities of its ancestors. In many ways the latest versions of the Mark constitute THE excellent ordinary watch. There are more than meets the eye here. Pure, unobtrusive and long lasting the mark series have always defined how a proper wristwatch should be made and this year IWC proudly introduces a new variant, the IWC Pilot's Watch Mark XVIII.The LineageThe first wristwatch from IWC specifically designed for Aviators was the originator of the Mark series, produced in 1936. The Spezialuhr fur Flieger (Special Pilot's Watch) had a black dial, high contrast luminous hands, and a rotating bezel, which helped its user to measure elapsed time accurately up to one hour. It
Weekly Watch Photo - Omega Watch Art - Monochrome Watches
Omega will be launching something new tomorrow, something exiting, but I don’t know what! Because of this, they are showing some incredible mechanical art pieces and Monochrome will share these as our Weekly Watch Photo. A slightly different WWP, but as good as the normal WWP.?From time to time, I’m browsing through Ebay, searching for some new, something old, something… well, something with a ticking mechanical movement inside. And sometimes I find these incredible products of someone with a lot of patience. Someone who made a small motorbike or car from old watch parts. I’m always amazed by how cool these pieces of art actually are. Omega must have thought the same, as they showed some computer graphics that remind me of the aforementioned art. In a recent piece of news, Oris announced a new iteration for?the 42mm Divers Sixty-Five. While this model already exists in?blue or green, it now comes with a rather unexpected dial, which even if strongly playing on the usual vintage theme of the collection (and maybe even more now) is featuring?a silver color, something rather unusual for a dive watch. Well, this?Oris Divers Sixty-Five Silver Dial was clearly requiring to be seen in the metal (no press photo can give credits to a watch), something we did during the brand’s pre-Baselworld Preview where we already saw the?Oris Altimeter Rega Limited Edition. And believe us, it was necessary. If you are here, reading these lines, you must have already a certain interest in watches. The “65” was introduced at Baselworld 2015, in its black dial / 40mm version, as a modern interpretation of
