REVIEW: Montblanc Heritage Spirit Orbis Terrarum Worldtimer - Monochrome Watches
The world of high-end watches has seen several new releases of worldtimers in the last years. Until a decade ago, the worldtimer wrist watch, originally developed by Louis Cottier, was a complication that was dominated by brands like Patek Philippe and Girard-Perregaux (with their WW.TC). In the past years a few more contenders entered the market of world timers, however with the launch of the Montblanc Heritage Spirit Orbis Terrarum, earlier this year, we have a new player in luxury entry level. It comes at a retail price of approx. € 5,500 Euro. The watches are now becoming available in stores and we thought it would be a good idea to review it. A worldtimer is after all one of the most convenient complications in this day and age, and with such a price, Montblanc makes this complication available for a larger audience. The Montblanc Heritage Spirit Orbis Terrarum comes in a 41mm case, in either stainless steel or 18k red gold. Besides the modest diameter, the case is only 11.99mm thi
Hands-On With The New and Original Kudoke 3 HANDwerk
Stefan Kudoke and his unique and intricate timepieces incorporating elements of traditional watchmaking with modern designs and super-fine execution have been known to collectors and watch enthusiasts for quite some time before his Kudoke 2 watch won the Petite Aiguille at the 2019 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve (GPHG). The high-profile success brought wider recognition and increased demand for the Kudoke creations, Kudoke 1 and Kudoke 2, that represent the HANDwerk Collection, not to forget that Stefan Kudoke is also famous for his KUNSTwerk engraved and skeletonised watches produced in limited numbers. And he is busy making unique, bespoke watches that fall into the YOURwerk collection. So it is understandable why we had to wait four years to lay our hands on a new, just recently released Kudoke 3.Kudoke 3 is another fine timepiece from the German watchmaker that continues to pursue the design and aesthetics introduced in Kudoke 1 and 2. It is launched in the same 39mm round
Why not a pocket watch? Hands-on with the Montblanc 4810 Orbis Terrarum Pocket Watch 110 years Edition (live pics, specs & price) - Monochrome Watches
Pocket watches used to be very popular. Well, in fact it seems certainly understandable, given they were the only available option to carry the time. Then, at the beginning of the 20th century, along came wristwatches, which through the first half of the 20th century, became the norm. Pocket watches?turned into an obsolete object, more?prone to adorned collectors' displays and museums than to be worn. However, with the actual trend of vintage, couldn't it be distinguished and fashionable?to attach the chain of a pocket watch back on your finely tailored suit? That's what we're going to look at with the?Montblanc 4810 Orbis Terrarum Pocket Watch 110 years Edition, a both modern, practical (display-wise), complicated, elegant and well-priced pocket / table watch. We're all used to looking at the time on our wrists. Hands-on - Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Quantieme Lunaire in white gold and opened dial (live pics, specs & price) - Monochrome Watches
The concept behind the Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre has always been highly interesting, from both a technical and visual side. The entire lineup of watches under the Duometre name are coming with a unique Dual-Wing system, including two barrels and two gear trains. One of the main springs powers the display of the time and the complications, while the other mains spring powers, via the second gear train, the regulating organ of the watch. Both are regulated by a single escapement module, although these two are connected. For the visual pleasure, the movement’s finishing is just superb, like we’re used to from Jaeger-LeCoultre. For the SIHH 2016, a new version of the?Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Quantieme Lunaire, now in white gold and with opened dial, has been launched, a very good excuse to look back at this watch. The idea behind the Duometre concept is simple. All starts from a?basic observation. In a traditional complication watch,?any function not constantly linked?to the ge
