Introducing: The Hublot Big Bang Tourbillon Carbon SR_A by Samuel Ross
Artist and designer Samuel Ross is back at work with Hublot. A tradition for the brand over its 44 years of existence, Hublot has collaborated with many contemporary artists like Richard Orlinski, Maxime-Plescia-Buchi, Murakami and Daniel Arsham. Marking the third time the Swiss brand has worked with Samuel Ross, both parties bring back the bold, sculptural and lightweight Big Bang Tourbillon SR_A in a new colour scheme and with a carbon fibre case.?In 2020, to celebrate the watchmaker's 40th anniversary, the artist unveiled the REFORM sculpture, which inspired the design of the Big Bang Tourbillon Samuel Ross, the first collaboration between Samuel Ross and Hublot on a timepiece. Having worked together on two occasions, resulting in orange and green editions of what’s one of the boldest watches of Hublot, Samuel Ross and the watch brand now launch a new chromatic variation based around the colour blue, incorporating new materials, specifically carbon. The Collector's Series - Our own Koen and his affordable and cool Tissot Heritage Navigator - Monochrome Watches
Sometimes it's doesn’t take much. It could be a friend's recommendation. It could be a brands heritage or even how they finish their movements that draws a collector. It's always fascinating finding out what that tipping point was for a particular collector on a particular occasion. Often we get caught up in the price we are asked to pay for a watch and it is always refreshing to hear a collector smitten with a watch that is not out of the reach of the many. And this week, this watch is the affordable Tissot Heritage Navigator. This is not the first time Koen Simon has featured on the series. We covered his IWC watches here and here. Many may not be aware of the vast history Tissot boast. They were in actual fact the first manufacturer to introduce a mass-produced pocket watch in 1853. They released the first pocket watch with two time zones the same year. They also released the first mass-produced watch to feature 24 time zones, the Tissot Navigator, in 1953, which is the precise
Hands-on with the Omega Speedmaster Lunar Dust - Monochrome Watches
We were all so excited with the idea of the re-edition of the Seamaster 300 that we actually didn’t expect?a new version of the Speedmaster in Baselworld 2014. Last year, Omega went the extra mile: playing the vintage card?with the Seamaster 300 and the?Speedmaster Mark II?or?being innovative with the introduction the first fully antimagnetic movement?and the spreading of the co-axial escapement?to all collections. New materials are also in the current scope: after the introduction of a full black ceramic Speedmaster last year, the Dark Side of the Moon, this year Omega presents a grey version, again with a ceramic case, which is called the Lunar Dust.Monochromatic watches have been one of the major trends in the watchmaking industry in recent years, especially with the use of black DLC coated cases, with sometimes?“questionable” results. Although we’re not the biggest fans of full black watches, we have to admit that Omega’s proposition on the Speedmaster
Introducing the Richard Mille RM 63-02 World Timer Automatic (specs & price) - Monochrome-Watches
That’s something we are used to tell you: world timers are certainly the most practical watches around. In our actual way of life, having on your wrist and in a glance the time of the major cities around the world is extremely convenient, especially for frequent travelers and for people working in international environment. So what is it about to mix this complication with a watch from Richard Mille? We had a clue 2 years ago, with the RM 58-01 Tourbillon World Timer (a very complicated and expensive one…) but it’s now time to have some new trails, with the (slightly) simpler?Richard Mille RM 63-02 World Timer Automatic.Unlike the majority of the watches manufactured by the brand, the?Richard Mille RM 63-02 World Timer Automatic is a round watch – when most RM watches features the now iconic tonneau shape. However, it doesn’t prevent this novelty to feel like the rest of the collection, meaning being a “racing machine on the wrist“. The new?RM
The AGTZ Twin Tail is Zagatos Tribute To The Legendary Alpine A220 Racing Car
The first test flight of the Concorde, the moon landing, the Woodstock festival, and Monty Python’s Flying Circus first aired on BBC One… just a few of the major historic events that happened in the year 1969. In motorsports, a lot happened too, as Sir Jackie Stewart won his first of three Formula 1 World Driver Championships, Bruce McLaren dominated the Can-Am series in a car built by his own team, and Ford won Le Mans for a fourth consecutive year. But that same year, the French team of Alpine entered the A220, a racing car that might not have won Le Mans that year but has become sort of a cult hero. Most notably for its short-to-longtail conversion from 1968 to 1969, which is now paid tribute to by none other than Zagato.?The famous Italian design studio and coachbuilding company Zagato has been around for more than 100 years and is known for its unique styling. Founded by Ugo Zagato in 1919, the company quickly garnered fame by making lightweight bodies for Alfa Romeo
