Hands-On With The Brand-New Take on The Longines Pilot Majetek
For some time now, Longines has skillfully mastered the art of reissues, paying tribute to historical models, all to the great satisfaction of collectors and those with a good eye for classic timepieces. One of the vintage-inspired watches that caught our attention a few years back was the Longines Heritage 1935, a modern interpretation of the Longines Czech Pilot watch developed in the 1920s and supplied to the Czechoslovakian Air Force in the 1930s. The watches were marked as “Majetek Vojenske Spravy”, meaning “property of military administration”, earning the Longines Majetek nickname among collectors. (I believe Longines Vojenske would be a better name, translating into Longines Military and not Longines Property, but it is too late for that). This week, the manufacturer presented a new take on the historical Czech Pilot watch, the Longines Pilot Majetek. The new timepiece is an improvement compared to the Longines Heritage 1935, released in 2014. Let us see

A Journey to Red Bull Racing and through the racing heart of TAG Heuer - Monochrome Watches
Saturday means another kind of mechanics here, at MONOCHROME. As every week, we share with you our second passion: cars (like real cars, those that smell and make some noise). For this week's Petrolhead Corner installment we visited Red Bull Racing in Milton Keynes to have a chat about the bond between TAG Heuer and Red Bull. The relation between TAG and motorsports isn’t anything new; it was initiated long time ago by Mr. Jack Heuer himsel. In Milton Keynes we found out why relative newbie, Red Bull Racing, was the right partner to build the strongest collaboration on the grid. It's not necessarily the story marketing departments would like to hear, but it's fascinating to see just how spontaneously Jack Heuer’s involvement in car racing got started – and how naturally it has evolved. In his autobiography, TAG Heuer honorary chairman Jack Heuer describes going to the Monte Carlo rally in 1958. At the finish line, he writes, we studied every car arriving to see what ti
Introducing: The Military-Themed Ulysse Nardin Freak One Ops
2001 stands out in history, marked by events that significantly shaped our future – some fascinating, some terrifying. In the realm of watchmaking, 2001 witnessed a groundbreaking moment with the unveiling of the Freak by Ulysse Nardin – a “horological UFO with no dial, no hands, no crown, and a novel silicon direct impulse escapement,” as described by our own Xavier Markl. I encourage you to delve into his detailed review of this “avant-garde masterpiece that smashed all conventions and pioneered silicon in the watch industry” and the subsequent editions. And talking about this, there’s a new edition of the Ulysse Nardin Freak One, and it’s coming in a rather polarizing colour scheme.Since 2001, the watch without a crown for winding and time setting, devoid of conventional hands for indicating hours and minutes, and lacking a designated dial has spawned numerous variants. The newest addition is the Freak One, introduced earlier this year
