It has a sleek combination of Roman numerals and sticks as indexes and luminous silver-toned minute hands in an elegant silver dial. The watch has a stainless steel case that accounts for the durability of this watch. The glass comes with scratch-resistant sapphire crystal coating as well. The watch has a self-winding, and mechanical movement and the reserve of this design lasts for a good long time. The Apple Watch through the Eyes of the Industry Leaders - Monochrome Watches
When Apple introduced the highly anticipated iWatch… err… Apple Watch last week, it felt a bit like half of the watch industry was holding their breath. Would this be the death sentence for mechanical watches? I had my say about the Apple Watch last week, immediately after it was launched, and wondered what the industry leaders think of this ‘new development’. Monochrome?asked a few CEO’s of major watch brands to share their thought on the Apple Watch. Here’s what they think…Wilhelm Schmid (CEO of A. Lange & Sohne), Stephane Linder (CEO of TAG Heuer) and mr. Angelo Bonati (CEO of Panerai) share their opinion on the new Apple Watch and smart watches in general. And there was of course Jean-Claude Biver (allround watch guru and industry expert for LVMH Group) who’s never shy to share his spicy honest opinion. In an interview with German newspaper Der Welt he called the Apple Watch “too feminine” and “designed by a firs
Introducing The Elegant Longines Flagship Heritage Moonphase 38.5mm
The Longines Flagship collection, which first appeared in 1957, nowadays draws inspiration from the brand’s vintage models while incorporating adjustments to contemporary preferences and standards. Longines, established in 1832, is a highly esteemed watch brand renowned, among other things, for seamlessly blending classic and traditional aesthetics of older timepieces with modern watchmaking technology. This fusion is evident in the Flagship collection, particularly in the earlier Heritage with small seconds and date, which embodies the essence of the series. The new Flagship Heritage model, featuring a moonphase and date indicator, follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, paying homage to Longines’ innovative spirit in watchmaking. It flawlessly combines traditional design elements with modern sensibilities, ensuring its broad appeal. The elegant new Longines Flagship Heritage Moonphase is housed in a 38.5mm round stainless steel case with 30m water resistance. 2020 IWC Portugieser Automatic 40 IW3583 - Hands-On, Specs & Price
The Portugieser (no longer referred to as Portuguese or Portugaise) is probably IWC’s most emblematic collection. With a history dating back to the late 1930s with the reference 325, this nautical-inspired and elegant watch has been equipped with all possible complications. However, over the last couple of years, there have been no time-only models in the collection – somewhat surprising given that this format was the origin of the model. Well, those days are over as IWC introduces a new, compact, daily-oriented and ultra-clean version of its nautical icon, with a neatly organised dial with small seconds. Let’s have a look at the new IWC Portugieser Automatic 40.?No need to beat around the bush… This new version features all the classic traits of the IWC Portugieser family. Even without the logo on its dial, it would be recognizable as such. A thin bezel, a large dial with a railroad minute track, the signature applied Arabic numerals, the leaf-shaped hands, etc
Longines Avigation BigEye (Live Pics, Specs & Price)
It's not hard to find vintage-inspired military watches as the market is now flooded with them. If you want something affordable and authentic, Hamilton has you covered. Want to go high-end, IWC and Panerai?have a lot to offer, among many others. Longines even has a wide variety in its Heritage collection. Most are excellent examples of a given time period and fine watches on their own, but few have truly unique personalities. The Longines Avigation BigEye bucks the trend with an atypical chronograph that hits a lot of the right notes, but its provenance is a bit of a mystery. It's also not the first modern big eye chronograph with pieces like the Breguet Type XX?having a similar dial. It's arguably the best vintage-inspired Longines since the Legend Diver, however, and won the Best Revival award at last year's Grand Prix de l'Horlogerie de Geneve (GPHG). That's an eye-opening achievement, so let's take a closer look.BACKGROUNDThe history behind the Avigation BigEye Chronograph is anyt
