IN DEPTH: The Omega Flightmaster - The Special One - Monochrome Watches
The recent announcement of the revamped Speedmaster MkII from Omega seems to highlight a return to the company's glorious past- and rightly so, in my honest opinion, since Omega has a large number of design gems in its vaults. However, it was the introduction of the Z-33 spacemaster that made me want to dig some more and present to you the highly radical Flightmaster, a watch that, when it was introduced in 1969, was considered way ahead of its time. Maybe it still is….The 1960’s undoubtedly were hugely important for the Swiss watch industry; this was a memorable decade for chronographs and the other “tool” watches. The watch became the symbol of the adventurous human spirit, being worn by drivers and their crews when they went racing; by pilots as they broke speed and altitude records; by international travelers as they crossed the time zones of the world; by divers doing underwater exploration; by the adventurers as they climbed the tallest peaks. Especially i

Oeps i did it again... - Monochrome Watches
I’ve been trying to buy a reasonably priced chronograph that is not covering my entire wrist. So after extensive searching i decided to go for the Gerard Perregaux Richeville. It has a reworked Lemania 1872 chronograph movement, which is the 2 register version of the movement which is used in the Omega Speedmaster. This GP Richeville reference 2710 has a case of 35mm. That’s exactly what i was looking for.So after i decided to find me a Richeville, i searched Ebay and missed 4 or 5 to higher bidders. But this morning i finally won an auction for this particalar watch. Here is already a picture of the seller… Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Buying Guide: 6 More Budget-Friendly Geneva Watch Days Novelties
Last week’s selection of novelties from Geneva Watch Days were our personal picks from everything new we’ve seen during our stay in the Swiss capital. Looking back at the list, we stand by our choices, but one thing stood out: all but one watch cost tens of thousands of euros, if not more. While that’s all fine, of course, it’s far from attainable for the average watch enthusiast or collector. Not all of us have the means to purchase a hand-finished tourbillon watch set in rose gold with a sticker price of CHF 155,000. So, with that in mind and plenty more watches on show during this year’s Geneva Watch Days, let’s tone things down to a more sensible level and go shopping for a new watch below EUR 5,000 instead!Doxa 300T AristeraWith the introduction of the 300-piece limited edition SUB 300T Aristera, Doxa caters to left-handed people by putting the crown at 9 o’clock instead of the traditional 3 o’clock position. Fortunately, all the res
Introducing: The Tasty Nivada Grenchen Antarctic Spider Salmon
The recently revived Nivada Grenchen brand offers five collections that draw inspiration from its glorious past. The new Nivada watches stay true to the original aesthetics while incorporating modern Swiss movements, cases, and sapphire glass. They remain accessible, with a significant portion of the collection priced below EUR 1,000. Following the success of the relaunched Antarctic Spider model featuring a very quirky and original dial design, the company strengthened its offer. It has just revealed a new and enthralling timepiece, the Antarctic Salmon Spider, with a (surprise, surprise) salmon-coloured dial.Nivada, founded by Jacob Schneider and partners in Grenchen, Switzerland, in 1926, faced a fate common among Swiss watch brands in the 1970s and fell victim to the aftermath of the collapse of the Bretton-Wood monetary system and the quartz crisis. However, a stroke of luck awaited the brand when it was relaunched in 2020 by Guillaume Laidet, who had previously sold his successfu
