Monaco… The French Riviera, the pleasant?weather, James Bond, the sea, the Casino, the luxurious cars and nice ladies! Certainly one of the most attractive places to spend some relaxed time. And above all, there are the super-yachts. Now, if you ask me what would be the watch that best defines this world, I’d easily say a Ulysse Nardin. In fact, i’m not that far from the truth and as a proof, here is a new limited edition, the?Ulysse Nardin Diver Chronograph Monaco, which celebrates the collaboration of the brand with the Monaco Yacht Show. Overview. The Monaco Yacht Show, one of the main events in the world of luxury yachting Ad - Scroll to continue with article Ulysse Nardin a nautical history as profound as the oceans, with over 170 years of creating Marine Chronometers. The timekeeping instruments of this Swiss watchmaker have been guiding s
Jay-Z Spotted Wearing Patek Grandmaster Chime at the 65th Grammys
Music legend, husband of another music legend and one of the most lucrative record producers of his generation, Shawn Carter, a.k.a Jay-Z, is known for his acquired taste in many things. Let’s start with cars and his unique Rolls Royce Boat Tail (equipped with a?bespoke Bovet 1822 watch). And because you’re reading MONOCHROME, he’s got some pretty fascinating watches too. His Daytona can be seen as almost entry-level, even if its an Everose gold model. Much more intriguing, he’s the owner of the one-and-only Perpetual Calendar known, a watch modified by Franck Muller. The man knows his watches. And to prove it, he was spotted wearing Patek Philippe’s most complex watch yesterday at the 65th Grammy Awards, the $2.2 million Grandmaster Chime 6300G. Although it’s not the first time he’s been spotted wearing this black dial model, all eyes were on his wrist.?Steve Stoute, Rich Paul, Jay-Z, Juan “OG” Perez and The-Dream attend the 65
Interview - Young Canadian Independent Watchmaker Bradley Taylor
Earlier this year, we shared a story on a young Canadian watchmaker by the name of Bradley Taylor and the result of his first solo project, the Paragon. Selling out all of the 12 pieces in about two months can be considered quite an achievement by a start-up brand. Reason for us to sit down with Bradley Taylor once more and talk about what it took to create this watch, what the philosophy behind it is, how Canadian' the watch is and his consideration of doing something in-house or not.?The Paragon is the first-ever watch created under his own name, but Bradley Taylor has experience with building a brand and creating a watch design from the ground up before. We briefly touched upon the subject in our previous coverage, but joining forces with a fellow-Canadian classmate during his education in Le Locle, Switzerland, he started out as the Taylor' in Birchall & Taylor. Based out of Toronto, Charles Birchall and himself set out to create a luxury watch brand, basically the first of its
Omega announces the first truly anti-magnetic watch movement - Monochrome Watches
Today Omega announced a watch that is resistant to magnetic fields greater than 1.5 tesla (15,000 gauss)!! That’s a lot and any normal watch will stop immediately when exposed to this level of magnetism.?For comparison, a watch is considered anti-magnetic when it can withstand 60 Milgauss and the Milgauss is designed to withstand a?magnetic flux density of 1,000 gauss. Omega’s new movement can withstand 15,000 Gauss and they don’t rely on a soft-iron case, and find the solution in the materials used for creating the movement.Time for some explanation!?Gauss is the unit of a magnetic field and is named after the German mathematician and physicist Carl Friedrich Gauss.?Gauss is the “cgs unit” of magnetic flux density in a magnetic field and one gauss is defined as one maxwell per square centimeter. This sounds like gibberish? I also had to look it up on Wikipedia (check here). It’s more practical to say that a small magnet produces about 100 Gauss. So
Omega Seamaster Edizione Venezia (Specs & Price)
What an unexpected but refreshing surprise… Clearly, dress watches are not Omega’s specialty – chronographs and dive watches are. In terms of elegant and dress timepieces, the brand’s offer usually comes up short. However, Omega has decided to prove us wrong, with an extremely elegant, perfectly proportioned and true-to-the-past watch, the new?Seamaster Edizione Venezia,?to be sold exclusively in Venice, Italy – a perfect?excuse to bring your “bella?ragazza” for a visit to the floating city.A bit of history first… As most of you might know, the Omega Seamaster collection is defined by its emblem, the Seahorse. Since 1957, the logo has been engraved on the back of most of the Seamaster watches. However, few might know the origin of this logo and why Omega decided to use it.?On a visit to the city of Venice, a member of Omega’s?design department was struck by the famous gondolas and the beautifully sculpted representations of Neptune'
