Hands-on review of the A. Lange & Sohne Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase Lumen (live photos, specs & price) - Monochrome Watches
When you think “Lumen“, you know it’s going to be rare, you know that’s it’s going to feature sapphire and you know it’s also going to be superb… At A. Lange & Sohne, the name “Lumen” means rather unusual watches, which are bearing a smoky sapphire crystal that partially reveals the top side of the movement and the date / hours discs. It also means luminescent areas and a result that is sort of unique and unexpected for such a conservative manufacture. After the Grand Lange 1 Lumen and the Zeitwerk Lumen, A. Lange & Sohne came to the SIHH with a new edition, one that seems natural in the end. Here is the?A. Lange & Sohne Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase Lumen. The origins of the?A. Lange & Sohne Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase LumenThe A. Lange & Sohne Lange 1 doesn’t need any introduction anymore. Since its inception in 1994, this watch became a true classic, an icon, which except a few technical adjustments in 2015 (that
Hands-on review of the Oris Divers Sixty Five (live photos, specs & price) - Monochrome-Watches
What makes a watch cool? Difficult question that might lead to multiple answers and many more questions, each different considering who’s answering the question. Defining the coolness (or the attraction, to use a more grammatically correct?word) of a watch is all about subjective attributes, led by personal tastes, personal needs or personal budget. However, sometimes?a watch appears to be cool to (almost) everyone. The new Oris Divers Sixty Five has numerous tangible reasons to explain this with its stunning price / quality / coolness ratio. Throwback on one of the stars of Baselworld 2015.What does the Oris Divers Sixty Five has more than other dive watches? Technically, nothing. We can even argue that it’s a poor diver watch, with its 100m water resistance. Movement-wise, it’s also a very simple – however robust and functional – timepiece, that features the Calibre 733, based on a Sellita movement (an ETA-clone). After that, you’d probably ask you
The New Bulgari Octo l'Originale Solotempo in full Titanium - Monochrome Watches
Bulgari made quite an impact last year when it unveiled its record-breaking, ultra-thin Octo Finissimo Automatic. In total, the sand-blasted titanium case measured just 5.15mm thick, an incredible achievement and one that in my opinion, looks absolutely superb on the wrist. Others, however, found it either too thin or too expensive. Fortunately for those detractors, Bulgari's new Octo l’Originale Solotempo Titanium offers a very similar aesthetic, in a slightly thicker case and at a more wallet-friendly price.Bulgari is introducing several new models into its popular Octo collection this year, and we've already gotten hands-on with two of them; the Octo l'Originale Velocissimo chronograph in full titanium and the Octo Tourbillon Sapphire in Black DLC. The third model we are looking at is the Solotempo, a stylish three-hander with date presented in the brand's trademark multi-layer octagonal case with 110 facets. Hands-on with the De Bethune DB28GS - De Bethune's Newest Sports Watch - Monochrome Watches
De Bethune is known for its groundbreaking technological innovations – the company holds a number of patents – and also for its quite remarkable design. Both the technical aspects, as wel as the aesthetics, can be seen as an eclectic mix of classic Haute Horlogerie and state-of-art futuristic mechanics. Style-wise they probably lean more towards classic and certainly cannot be called sporty. That is, until now. De Bethune now introduces the DB28GS, the sporty one of the collection. In the world of proper high-end watches, there are simply just a handful of sports watches. The vast majority of real high-end watches are either classic dress watches or feature one, two or more complications. And let us immediately make clear that a Panerai or IWC with an in-house movement is?certainly a beautiful watch, however in our book it’s no ‘haute de gamme’, as the French call it. So what De Bethune introduces here is in more than one way a rare timepiece. A true high-e
