Lange und Sohne Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar - Apotheosis of the SIHH 2012 - Monochrome Watches
Because of an incredibly busy schedule I didn’t have time to visit Lange und Sohne until the last day of the SIIH 2012. What I got to see wasn’t simply amazing, it was so much more than amazing. For me it was the apotheosis of the fair. The new Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar is a magnificent piece of horology, technically very complex and visually it shows the understated classic, elegance we know Lange und Sohne for. Do you see the resemblance with the Lange 1 Daymatic? Ad - Scroll to continue with article This is the first Lange und Sohne with a tourbillon that is not visible on the dial side, their first tourbillon with an automatic movement, their first tourbillon with a stop-mechanism and it also features an instantaneous perpetual calendar.?It has similar looks of the?Lange 1 Daymatic, with the hour/minute register positioned on the right
Gerald Charles GC Sport Titanium (Hands-On, Price)
As we’ve explained in the past already, the name Gerald Charles might not be as familiar as Gerald Genta, but they actually belong to the same man. And behind the name Gerald Charles is an independent watchmaker that aims at reviving the spirit of the watches designed by the genius man in the mid-2000s. Something that we’ve demonstrated by looking at several editions of the signature Maestro watch, and specifically at the Maestro 2.0 Ultra-Thin. And now that you have this watch in mind, you can see that the new Gerald Charles GC Sport is part of the same family of watches… But there are important differences to be explained, and it has to do with the ability to take this unique design to unprecedented levels of sportiness. But without compromising anything regarding proportions and elegance.BackgroundGerald Charles Genta (1931-2011) is known as one of the most prolific designers of the watchmaking industry and his unique touch has cemented the future of so many icons.
Baltic Aquascaphe Bronze (Specs & Price)
The brainchild of a young, passionate French collector who wanted to offer handsome vintage-inspired pieces at reasonable prices, microbrand Baltic has been successful – rightfully so – with its two existing collections. One of them is named the Aquascaphe, a dive watch inspired by icons of the 1950s, packed with retro-styled elements. Following the development of the brand, this watch now comes in a new material, with multiple updates on the case and dial. Let’s look at the new Baltic Aquascaphe Bronze.Baltic Watches is the brainchild of Etienne Malec, a young Frenchman who has inherited his father's passion for watches - something he shared with us some years ago. An avid collector, his father spent years putting together a collection of exceptional timepieces, some of which have inspired the designs of Baltic's first two models. The creation of Baltic Watches was a way for Etienne to fulfil his passion for watches (and he is truly passionate). After successfully fu
Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Chronograph Calendar 2020 Hands-On
Earlier this year, during the digital presentation of Watches & Wonders, Jaeger-LeCoultre unveiled a refreshed take on its Master Control collection. Among the four watches representing the updated 2020 design features is the Master Control Chronograph Calendar, a captivating combination of complications that immediately caught our eye. Equipped with a column-wheel chronograph and triple calendar display with moon phases, the Master Control Chronograph Calendar marks the first time JLC concocts this mix of complications. With its refined whiff of the 1950s without being a vintage throwback, this beautiful Master Control Chronograph Calendar is fitted with a new automatic in-house movement. Let's take a closer look at this compelling combo of complications.Master ControlIntroduced in 1992, the defining spirit of the Master Control collection is the combination of technical rigour with stylistic restraint drawing on inspiration from classic round timepieces made by JLC in the 1950s.
TAG Heuer Monaco 55 - Monochrome Watches
TAG Heuer and the Porsche Club of America launch the Monaco 55, a very limited collector's edition.Last month i wrote about my first ‘love’ in watches, my Heuer Autavia. However?the first mechanical watch i ever seriously took a looked at, was a TAG Heuer Monaco, which is still one of my favorites. When i heard TAG Heuer released a (very) limited edition Monaco to celebrate the 55th anniversary of Porsche Club of America (PCA) i was surprised, because TAG Heuer does not makes a habit of such limited editions. The Monaco 55 shows some design elements we know from Monaco?Vintage Limited Edition, TAG Heuer released in tribute to the Porsche-Gulf 917k race car in the movie Le Mans.
