Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin - VIDEO
In 2018, Audemars Piguet introduced a concept watch named RD#2. It was based on a Royal Oak, it was very thin, it was even 2mm thinner than the iconic Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra-Thin 15202. The most impressive feature was that it even comprised a perpetual calendar. This year, Audemars Piguet introduces the final version of the RD#2, a watch named the Royal Oak Selfwinding Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin, the world’s thinnest perpetual calendar. By entirely changing the architecture of the automatic movement and its perpetual calendar mechanism, Audemars Piguet has managed to incorporate all the parts on one single plane. And that’s how Audemars Piguet achieved this world-record creation measuring just 6.3mm in height. This achievement has even been awarded the Aiguille d’Or at the GPHG 2019, the Oscars of the Watchmaking Industry, further proof of the brand’s innovative spirit and technical expertise. The 2019 titanium & patinum R
Vacheron Constantin Overseas Ultra-thin ref. 2000V with Calibre 1120 - Live Photos, Specs and Price - Monochrome Watches
Renewing an icon is not an easy?task?(not an easy task at all!) However, as iconic as it is, the?Vacheron Constantin Overseas has been in the collection, with an?unchanged design, for the past 12 years. The Overseas?had its last update?in?2004, and the only alterations have been cosmetic, meaning new dial colours, and adding some complications. Until now, the Overseas collection didn’t comprise a true heir to the Overseas ancestor, the Vacheron Constantin 222, which was the brand’s luxury sports watch back in the 1970’s. In other words, there was no Overseas Ultra-Thin. And that’s remarkable since the Overseas plays in a special category, the Holy Trinity of luxury sports watches (the AP Royal Oak, Patek Philippe Nautilus and the Vacheron Constantin Overseas.) Now, for the very first time, there will be an ultra-thin Overseas?and it comes with the same (base)movement, dubbed calibre 1120, as used by the other two Holy Trinity of luxury sports watches. An exiting
News: The Vacheron Constantin Solaria Ultra Grand Complication Becomes the Worlds Most Complicated Wristwatch
Celebrating its grand 270th anniversary, Vacheron Constantin's bespoke Les Cabinotiers atelier presents a record-breaking watch with no fewer than 41 complications. Still holding the record for the world's most complex pocket watch, the Berkley, itself beating its own reference 57260, Vacheron now claims the title for the world's most complicated wristwatch, overtaking the Franck Muller Aeternitas Mega 5 with 36 complications and the Audemars Piguet 11.59 Universelle with 23. Pulling out all the stops, Vacheron unveils its Les Cabinotiers Solaria Ultra Grand Complication, a staggering achievement on all fronts and an extreme exercise in miniaturisation.Facts & FIguresThe figures speak for themselves. Developed over eight years by one watchmaker, the Solaria has 41 complications spread over two dials, 1,521 components, 13 patent applications, five rare astronomical complications, including the temporal tracking of celestial objects (a world premiere) with a split-seconds chronograph
Throwback - The most accurate type of calendar possible - the Andersen Geneve Perpetuel Secular Calender - Monochrome Watches
Yesterday, on February 29th, we decided to dig deeper into the concept of the perpetual calendar and explain why the leap year exists. It was the perfect occasion for this, since February 29th only occurs once every four years. In order to tell the story properly, we had to dive deeper into astronomy and history, and of course to have the various calendar watches. However one watch had our highest consideration, a watch that we almost forget about, but that has to be regarded as a serious?technological achievement. This watch is equipped with something ultra-rare: a secular perpetual calendar. The secular perpetual calendar is?even more accurate than a traditional perpetual calendar, or Quantieme Perpetual (QP.) Let's have a look at an old beauty, created by non-other than Svend Andersen. Here's the?Andersen Geneve Perpetuel Secular Calender and the announcement that will be telling you more about?this concept soon!?In our previous article, we explained?what a perpetual calendar actual
