Introducing: The More Compact Longines Spirit Zulu Time 39mm (Live Pics)
Charles Lindbergh, the first man to fly solo across the Atlantic in 1927, became a poster boy for Longines. Not only was the brand in charge of measuring the official flight time of his epic feat, but it worked together with Lindbergh to create the famous navigation watch – Hour Angle – for pilots. Famous aviators associated with the brand, like Amelia Earhart, Elinor Smith, or the tycoon Howard Hughes, relied on Longines’s onboard chronometers and wristwatches for their exploits. Longines launched its successful Spirit collection in 2020, capitalising on its rich heritage. The Spirit Zulu Time, a genuine traveller’s GMT, joined the collection in 2022 in a 42mm format. It certainly looks like Longines has kept its ear to the ground and picked up petitions from different watch forums clamouring for a smaller edition of its GMT Pilot’s watch as it unveils three new compact models Spirit Zulu Time 39mm?with a chronometer-certified movement.Zulu Time is a term
An Ode to a Timeless Classic: The IWC Mark Series - Monochrome Watches
Most of you have probably heard about the IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XVII. This is the latest incarnation of IWC’s classic line of pilots' watches with a central hour, minute, and second hand and a date function. In this presentation we are going way back in time in order to trace its bloodline, which is one of the most important in the history of horology. The Mark series of watches were created as life saving tools for aviators, designed in accordance with military specifications and nowadays have reached a cult status that few wristwatches attain. At the start of the 20th Century, mankind began to make its first endeavors to conquer the skies. The time-keeping apparatus was an essential tool that progressed in parallel evolution with aviation and those first attempts towards proper navigation in the air. The New Ulysse Nardin Marine Torpilleur Moonphase Aventurine And Diver Starry Night
Long before revolutionizing watchmaking with silicium technology and introducing the Freak in 2001, Ulysse Nardin had earned acclaim for its precision marine chronometers. This expertise not only defined Ulysse Nardin’s legacy but also significantly influenced the design philosophy of the brand’s contemporary models. In 2017, Ulysse Nardin launched the Marine Torpilleur, a collection providing a more accessible alternative to its well-established Marine series. Fast forward to 2021, and the Marine Torpilleur series underwent a comprehensive revitalization, introducing new models, including an attractive moon phase watch. This is now further expanded with 300-piece limited edition featuring a midnight blue Aventurine dial. Next to that, the brand also adds a sparkling version of its Diver to the collection, this time permanently. Known as the Diver Starry Night, it follows suit to the Marine Torpilleur Moonphase Aventurine, with the addition of diamond hour indices.Ulysse Na
The versatility of the Vacheron Constantin Quai de l'Ile in steel - Monochrome Watches
Pretty much every watch is introduced with one specific strap, or bracelet, and usually that’s what determines its looks. Of course, watch brands design the watch for a specific purpose, ?and therefore the watch must have a matching look / style, so that’s all fully understandable. But it can also be kind of boring, especially for those who feel that their watch might also look good on a different strap, and befit a different style. For people who like to change the looks of their watch to the “style of the day” or to changing activities, a few brands deliver some of their watches with two or three?straps or bracelets, and we applaud that. However when I saw the new steel Vacheron?Constantin Quai de l’Ile on its alligator leather strap, I really wanted to see it on a more sporty and more casual strap, and Vacheron Constantin was so kind to let me give this a try. Since I was already fully convinced of the versatility of the watch, I’m now interested
Introducing the Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Day-Date and Power Reserve Collection Excellence Platine - Monochrome Watches
Shortly before the Watches & Wonders fair in Hong Kong, Vacheron Constantin adds a new version of the beautiful calibre 2475 to the Collection Excellence Platine. Originally introduced into the collection in the legendary Jubilee 1755, in 2005, and since 2008 available in the Quai de l’Ile collection, it now returns in a lovely classically styled execution: the Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Day-Date and Power Reserve Collection Excellence Platine. Since its creation in 2006 Vacheron Constantin’s Collection Excellence Platine pays homage to the purity of the material platinum. Platinum is 95% pure, compare that to 18-carat gold that is just 75% pure gold. The additional 25% determines the colour of gold (pink, rose, red, yellow or white.) Platinum usually is mixed with 5% palladium or copper. Watches in the Collection Excellence Platine are always individually numbered and never exceeding 150 pieces per model. This Traditionnelle Day-Date and Power reserve features
