The Collector's Series - Frank's Daniel Roth Small Seconds Salmon Dial
As we explained to you a week ago, weird times call for agility and confinement has forced us to change a bit the way we work and the content we’ll be covering in the coming weeks. Does that mean you won’t see great content on MONOCHROME? Certainly not. In fact, we currently have more time to focus on certain things we tended to forget, and this goes for “The Collector’s Series“. The idea is to show you more of the human side of MONO’ and its team of editors, and of course, to share our passion for watches that drives us every day. So today, I’m interviewing the man I work with on a daily basis, the founder of this magazine, Frank Geelen. For this instalment of “The Collector’s Series”, he talks about his delicate, desirable Daniel Roth Small Seconds in Steel with Salmon Dial.Daniel Roth is a legendary name in the industry, but the low-profile kind of name. His influence on contemporary watchmaking is huge; he’s one of t
Weekly Watch Photo - Patek Philippe Nautilus Chronograph 5980/1A - Monochrome Watches
The Patek Philippe Nautilus is one of those watches that has been on my personal wish-list for a long time. A few days ago I had the chance to try the Nautilus Chronograph ref.5980/1A on my wrist and now I know it… it made it to the top of my wish-list instantly.?I know, I know… on Monochrome there has also been moaning about the yearly price increases and the price of this specific stainless steel chronograph, which is close to € 40.000 Euro (including taxes). I still think the price is too high, however on the other hand I really want this watch. After trying it on my wrist at Leon Martens,?one of the few Patek Philippe dealers in the Netherlands, I was convinced the Nautilus Chronograph is THE perfect all-round watch. Dressy, casual, sporty and incredibly comfortable. Ad - Scroll to continue with article When I have time for it I read several foru
First Look: The Bulgari Octo Finissimo Tattoo Fuoco For Chronopassion
In less than ten years, Bulgari's ultra-thin legion of Octo Finissimo watches has marched across the watch landscape conquering eight world records for its incredibly thin mechanical wonders. However, its imperial ambitions stretch beyond the merely mechanical thanks to Fabrizio Buonamassa's bold, contemporary design language that reflects the brand's Roman origins. No stranger to collaborations, the dial of the Octo Finissimo Automatic has been reinterpreted by Japanese architects Kazuyo Sejima and Tadao Ando?with refined minimalism. However, the 2022 collaboration with Laurent Picciotto of Chronopassion and tattoo artist Mo Coppoletta notched up the edginess with a fully laser-engraved tattoo motif covering the case, dial and bracelet. The formula seems to have worked because Bulgari is back for its third round with Picciotto and Coppoletta with this rose gold Octo Finissimo Tattoo Fuoco. The new Octo Finissimo Tattoo Fuoco collaboration is, in fact, the third and follows the earlier
Omega Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial in titanium - Review after a summer on the wrist (live photos, specs and price) - Monochrome-Watches
The new Omega Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial… THE star of Baselworld 2014, a truly inspired watch with its superb vintage design, a great horological content, and the introduction of a fully?anti-magnetic movement! We’ve covered it multiple times already on Monochrome (here and here). After all the noise created around this timepiece, it was clearly time for us to use it, to feel it, to show it. Well, we’ve been testing the Omega Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial in titanium over the space of a whole summer.Omega surprised us just before Baselworld 2014, with a teaser showing a new dive watch. You know us here at Monochrome-Watches, we can’t resist opening our photo-editing software and to imagine the future novelties. So, we’ve predicted this new watch. The impatience was great before the annual watch fair, as we knew Omega was cooking something cool. The result was beyond our expectations, with a superbly designed watch which had been inspired by one of the b
