A. Lange & Sohne 1815 Homage to Walter Lange with Stoppable Jumping Second Limited Editions in 3 Colours of Gold and a Stainless Steel Unique Piece - Monochrome Watches
In January 2017, one of the greatest and humblest men I had the chance to meet, Mister Walter Lange (1924-2017), founder of A. Lange & Sohne, sadly passed away. In honour of its founder, the Saxon manufacture is enlarging its 1815 collection with the?1815 Homage to Walter Lange. Inside this watch is a surprising and unexpected complication: a?stoppable jumping seconds hand that dates back to a 150-year-old invention conceived by Ferdinand Adolph Lange. There will be three limited editions in yellow, rose and white gold, and one piece unique in stainless steel… all four are future collector’s watches, and the steel version will is the grail!?An Homage to Herr Walter Lange and his contribution to the German Watchmaking IndustryWalter Lange (1924-2017), founder of A. Montblanc Heritage Spirit Pulsograph with Minerva Chronograph Movement (Specs & Price)
Back in 2014, right after Jer?me Lambert was appointed CEO of the brand (and?who is now COO of almost all the Maisons at Richemont Group), Montblanc introduced the Heritage collection?– a line-up of classical, elegant watches with a clear vintage appeal, in both the design and the use of complications. There was some Minerva inspiration, yet with the usual “affordability” the brand is known for. Alongside the below-10k perpetual calendar (a watch that sounded like a blast at that time) was another watch, the?Montblanc Heritage Spirit Pulsograph,?and here, it’s not only inspired by Minerva, but features true Minerva watchmaking skills. Why talk about this watch today? Well, just look at the photos and you’ll understand. A throwback to this watch is for pleasure only…When he joined Montblanc in 2013, Lambert infused a new energy into the brand. First of all was the concept of “accessible luxury“, so dear to him (he started it at JLC, but re
Introducing The Petermann Bedat Reference 2941 Split-Seconds (Live Pics)
Ga?l Petermann and Florian Bedat created their independent watchmaking brand in 2017. In 2020, the dynamic duo of talented young watchmakers received a well-deserved industry accolade, taking home the Horological Revelation Prize at the prestigious GPHG for their superbly crafted 1967 Deadbeat Seconds. Petermann Bedat now moves one step further into complexity and high-end watchmaking with a magnificent monopusher split-seconds chronograph with a jumping minute counter. Meet the Petermann Bedat Reference 2941.If the 1967 Deadbeat Seconds was already fairly complex, Ga?l Petermann and Florian Bedat have not chosen an easy road for their second movement. The rattrapante (or split-seconds) chronograph is widely considered to be one of the most elaborate and difficult to produce complications in mechanical watchmaking. Rattrapante chronographs feature two superimposed seconds hands that time two events of different lengths simultaneously. One hand (the rattrapante) can be stopped to read a
Buying Guide: 5 Nautical-Inspired Watches To Wear On The Deck Of Your Boat
The idea of getting a watch for summer often goes down to sourcing a dive watch… It’s the easy solution. Robust, cool, suitable for underwater adventures, sporty and not too flashy (not always), a dive watch will do the job. Even better if you combine it with a GMT complication, practical if you ever cross time zones. But, it can also sometimes be too focused, or too instrumental. If you’re about to embark on a trip onboard a boat this summer, while also planning?stopovers in nice seaside places, you might want something a bit more elegant. This is the mission of the so-called nautical watch, also known as skipper or regatta, and we’ve listed 5 that will surely fulfil the job.?Breguet Marine Alarme Musicale 5547 TitaniumWhile also available in rose or white gold, the classy and complex Marine Alarme Musicale 5547 can be chosen in an undeniable nautical-inspired combination of titanium with a blue dial. Robust enough, yet elegant and finished as a Breguet should
Introducing: Swatch x Blancpain Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms
We knew it was coming… Not only Swatch’s latest collaboration with a higher-end watchmaker from the Swatch Group was teased by the brand, but we even created our own vision of what these Swatch x Blancpain models could have been. And looking at the new Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms, we were not too far away from reality. Following the Moonswatch and its success, it’s time now for another Swatched-out emblematic watch, but here, there is some good news on the side of the functionalities and mechanics.?The Swatch x Blancpain Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms next to the inspiration, the classic Blancpain Fifty FathomsDubbed the Swatch x Blancpain Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms, what we’re looking at here is basically a Swatch take on what is one of the earliest and most respected dive watches, the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. Born in 1953, this legendary watch has celebrated its 70th anniversary this year with several commemorative models. It isn’t such a surprise
