A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Automatic now with Terra-Brown dials (specs & price) - Monochrome Watches
Back in 2015, A. Lange & Sohne introduced a brand new Saxonia collection, revamping all the editions, with new dials and new sizes, while keeping the same concept: clean, elegant and restrained dress watches. In the tradition of the Saxonian Manufacture, these watches were all available in white gold or pink gold case, but only?with a white dial – to the exception of a special Boutique edition of the manual edition, with an anthracite dial, that we reviewed. The Saxonia collection is now growing, with the addition of new Terra-Brown dials on the?A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Automatic. At the SIHH 2015,?A. Lange &?Sohne?introduced several novelties, including the ultra-exclusive Zeitwerk Minute Repeater or a new version of the iconic Datograph Perpetual. In the middle of these complicated, hyper-desirable watches, the Saxonian Manufacture also introduced something a lot more rational, more accessible to mere mortals but also extremely important for the brand – as bein
First Look: Malachite or MoP for the Latest Bulgari Lucea Models
While not many of us can pull off one of Bulgari's spectacular high jewellery watches like those presented in the Garden of Eden collection with opulent gemstone flowers winding up the arm, take heart because there are other women's collections designed for everyday wear. One of these is the best-selling Lucea collection launched by Bulgari in 2014. Celebrating its tenth anniversary, Lucea gets a stylish makeover just in time for the LVMH Watch Week. From the Latin lux' for light, Lucea is a collection of round watches with fascinating details like the bright pink cabochon-cut stone crown set with a diamond that belies the hand of Bulgari's master designer, Fabrizio Buonamassa. Benefitting from the subtle design tweaks for its tenth anniversary, the case has been refined, and the V-shaped links of the slinky bracelet have been softened and rounded. The idea behind the remodelling of the bracelet was to capture the sensuality of the Serpenti and the flexibility of the fluid links of the
MB&F x Emmanuel Tarpin Legacy Machine Flying T
Breaking a tradition of masterminding complex, visually arresting watches for men, MB&F undertook its maiden voyage into the galaxy of women’s watches in 2019. Faithful to the brand’s spectacular 3D design language, the Legacy Machine Flying T staged a flying tourbillon rising above the dial plate accompanied by an intriguing hours and minutes dial perched at an angle. Eminently feminine without being affected, the Flying T has had many wardrobe changes but none as glacial as this duet of Ice and Blizzard editions made in collaboration with jewellery designer Emmanuel Tarpin.Emmanuel TarpinBusser has always cultivated an assorted group of ‘friends’ (the ‘F’ in MB&F), collaborators or partners who contribute their expertise to different projects. The latest friend to join the gang is Emmanuel Tarpin, a French jewellery designer from Annecy who studied at the Haute ecole d’Art et de Design (HEAD) in Geneva and spent three years in the Par
Buying Guide - Five of the best Vintage-inspired accessible watches
People have the tendency to look back on their past and revive good memories from time to time. Whether it is through pictures, music that brings back memories, or artefacts from that perfect summer vacation, everybody has these rituals. And, in comparison, the watch industry is not that different. With the vintage market booming, and previously overlooked pieces on the rise, multiple brands take a look at their Greatest Hits and decide to revive them. And when done right, the result can be very rewarding. With that in mind, here are 5 of the best reissued watches launched this year, plus they won't break the bank.Nivada Grenchen Antarctic SpiderNivada Grenchen is a historic brand, launched by Otto Wulliman, Hermann Schindler and Jack Schneider in 1926 and fell victim to the quartz crisis in the mid-seventies. The company focused on instrument watches that went beyond simple indications of time. The name was revived in 2018 by Guillaume Laidet and Remi Chabrat, with the goal of recreat
The Petrolhead Corner - Rob Dickinson of Singer Vehicle Design, The Most Amazing Restomod Porsche 911s
Today we're talking with Rob Dickinson, founder and creative director of Singer Vehicle Design and co-founder for watch brand Singer Reimagined. When we were preparing to film a video interview with Rob, some two years ago, I knew about the Singer Reimagined Track 1, that super cool chronograph featuring Jean-Marc Wiederecht's innovative chronograph calibre. But that was it, so I “Googled” him and found out that Rob used to be the lead singer and guitar player of a band that I listened to a lot. I still vividly remember a concert of his band, Catherine Wheel, back in 1990 or 1991, when they played together with the Smashing Pumpkins and support act, The Verve. So, shortly before filming that video interview about Singer Reimagined, we talked music and days gone by.?Later we also talked cars, of course! I'm a watch guy, but I'm also a car guy. Like watches, I prefer cars with mechanical content, a petrol engine and not too many batteries. And that's exactly what Rob and his
