Weekly Watch Photo - A. Lange & Sohne Zeitwerk Handwerkskunst - Monochrome Watches
Some weeks ago A. Lange & Sohne unveiled what in my eyes is the most beautiful timepiece in the current collection. It’s a special limited edition?of the Zeitwerk ‘Handwerkskunst’.In my opinion?the Lange Zeitwerk, that was released?late 2009,?is one of the most desirable timepieces available on the market today.? This new version with a hand frosted black-rhodium white gold dial, somehow perfected the looks of the Zeitwerk even more. Ad - Scroll to continue with article The white gold dial has been black rhodium finished, something rare as usually rhodium finish is used to make metals (mostly white gold) look more shiny and white. The frosting is also something very rare and can only be found on a hand-full of watches. I know Peter Speake-Marin did several commissioned pieces with a hand-frosted dial, Kari Voutilainen’s Minute Repeate
Is changing straps a Paneristi addiction? - Monochrome Watches
Paneristi, people who own a Panerai, are known to change straps on their Panerai often. Having owned a Panerai I know everything about the strap-changing-disease. But is wearing a watch on different straps only a Paneristi addiction? I asked myself this question, especially because I change straps on my watches all the time. I guess for me changing straps started with my Panerai, but soon I was changing straps on almost every watch I own. Let me give you some examples. When I saw an aftermarket 22 mm Panerai strap for sale at a Dutch watch forum, I just couldn’t resist. The idea was actually inspired by the?TAG Heuer Monaco with brown dial and python strap. This combination looks awesome on a sunny day, wearing a white shirt and jeans! Besides this aftermarket strap, I also have three OEM – Original Equipment Manufacturer ¨C? TAG Heuer straps for the Monaco. Originally it came on a black calf strap with folding buckle and later I bought the brown calf strap and the black alli
Introducing the IWC Big Pilot Watch Edition 'Le Petit Prince' - Monochrome-Watches
IWC comes back with a new limited edition, honoring?one of its favorite ambassadors (unfortunately not with us anymore), Antoine de Saint-Exupery, pilot and writer, and its most famous character, ‘le Petit Prince’. Using the same concept as several other editions of the Pilot collection, it is now the Big Pilot that is paying tribute to one of the most classical books of all time. Please welcome the?IWC Big Pilot Watch Edition ‘Le Petit Prince’.Several other watches of the Pilot collection had been used to serve as a tribute to Antoine de Saint-Exupery?and ‘Le Petit Prince’. Remember in 2013, we introduced you to the?IWC Big Pilot Perpetual Calendar and Mark XVII Limited Special Edition ‘Le Petit Prince‘. This year we had the chance to get our hands on the chronograph edition. If you look closely at those 3 watches, they are all sharing a same scheme: pilot watches adorned with a special dial, a distinctive strap and, of course, a casebac
Laurent Ferrier Grand Sport Tourbillon, Blue dial and Steel bracelet (Price)
Unexpected yet at the same time quite relevant given the background of Mr Ferrier, the Grand Sport Tourbillon was introduced a year ago as Laurent Ferrier’s vision of an (ultra-high-end) luxury sports watch. Mixing a more common case material with a delicate, hand-finished tourbillon movement, it was the Haute Horlogerie version of what is today the most coveted of all watch categories. First presented in brown with a rubber strap, the Laurent Ferrier Grand Sport Tourbillon comes back this year on a congruent steel bracelet with a gradient blue dial. While widely known for its classic, elegant and restrained watches, all with smooth curves and delicate dials, Laurent Ferrier himself has an interesting background that helps to understand why this Grand Sport watch was created. First of all, the man has spent over 35 years at Patek Philippe, and in 1974, just before the launch of the Nautilus, he was in charge of the bureau technique d'habillage, a department in charge of the extern
Buying Guide: 6 More Budget-Friendly Geneva Watch Days Novelties
Last week’s selection of novelties from Geneva Watch Days were our personal picks from everything new we’ve seen during our stay in the Swiss capital. Looking back at the list, we stand by our choices, but one thing stood out: all but one watch cost tens of thousands of euros, if not more. While that’s all fine, of course, it’s far from attainable for the average watch enthusiast or collector. Not all of us have the means to purchase a hand-finished tourbillon watch set in rose gold with a sticker price of CHF 155,000. So, with that in mind and plenty more watches on show during this year’s Geneva Watch Days, let’s tone things down to a more sensible level and go shopping for a new watch below EUR 5,000 instead!Doxa 300T AristeraWith the introduction of the 300-piece limited edition SUB 300T Aristera, Doxa caters to left-handed people by putting the crown at 9 o’clock instead of the traditional 3 o’clock position. Fortunately, all the res
