The end of the year is near, and we’ll soon be turning the page on 2021, a year of transition and (again) unexpected things. Sure, it was better than 2020 and its constant ups and downs, and sure it has been a great year for MONOCHROME, with the launch of two Montres de Souscription (with Habring2 and Czapek), the addition of new members to the team, and probably the most articles published in a single year. Indeed, we published over 1,100 articles this year (not counting the remaining days of 2021), and it’s time for us to have a look at what were your ten favourite articles of 2021.Thank you all for reading MONOCHROME, commenting, and sharing your passion for watches with us.10 – Audemars Piguet x Marvel Royal Oak Concept Black PantherIt’s not really a surprise to see this watch making it to the top 10. MB&F LM Thunderdome Triple Axis Regulator / Review, Price
Max Busser and Friends, or simply MB&F, was created as an avant-garde horological lab with a vision: gathering talents to create radical mechanical art pieces. For its latest creation, Busser got two of his long-time friends to collaborate for the first time; the discreet Finnish master Kari Voutilainen and the inventive Eric Coudray. The result of this collaboration is spectacular, to say the least. Meet the MB&F Legacy Machine Thunderdome – and for the record, it features a fast triple-axis regulator a very fast one! Max Busser and Eric Coudray met some 20 years ago when they were both working at Jaeger-LeCoultre. In 2004, Coudray made a name for himself when the “Grande Maison” presented the cult Gyrotourbillon. Coudray and multi-axis tourbillons share a long history and the MB&F Legacy Machine Thunderdome does not fail to surprise and amaze. This triple-axis regulator watch is packed with intriguing features. And Kari Voutilainen
Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight Navy Blue (Specs & Price)
Tudor is no stranger to dive watches with iconic pieces going back decades. Validated by both the French Navy (Marine Nationale) and US Navy (among other world militaries), Tudor Submariners have a well-earned reputation. Other than a minor inscription, military Tudors are almost always the same as civilian counterparts, which is a testament to quality and robustness. Following the wildly popular 41mm Black Bay series from 2012, the Black Bay Fifty-Eight debuted in 2018 with a smaller case and new movement. Originally clad in black and gold, the latest BB58 Navy Blue has a fresher, monochromatic vibe with a blue dial and bezel. ?Family picture… From left to right, the 1st generation BB 41mm (ETA movement), the BB58 Navy Blue and the Black/Gold BB58Blue is BlackAlthough the Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight Navy Blue is simply a new colour variant, it really changes the personality. Blue is by no means a new colour for Tudor as models like the Pelagos Blue and 41mm Black Bay Midnight Bl
Introducing The Seiko 5 Sports x Peanuts "Snoopy" Watches (SRPK25 & SRPK27)
When you associate Snoopy with watchmaking, you might immediately think about Omega and the Speedmaster. Obviously… But the reason why you can find the cute beagle on the dial of the most legendary space watch has actually far more to do with NASA than the comic strip Peanuts by Charles M. Schulz. Nevertheless, this gave birth to some of the coolest Speedies around – but also some of the least accessible. Seiko now unveils a new pair of 5 Sports models to celebrate the 55th anniversary of this accessible collection. These have been made in association with Peanuts and reference the famous comic strip written and illustrated by Charles M. Schulz, including Snoopy on the dial of these SRPK25 and SRPK27.?Peanuts started in 1950 as a newspaper comic strip written and illustrated by Charles M. Schulz. The strip’s original run extended from 1950 to 2000, continuing in reruns afterwards. One of the most popular and influential comic strips in history, it focuses on the life
