Very few of us watch nuts are fortunate enough to hunt down and acquire tourbillons, minute repeaters or perpetual calendar watches. And while we’ve compiled many lists of this year’s best sports watches, calendar watches or complex chronographs in various instalments of our weekly Buying Guide, it’s now time to take a look at watches that don’t break the bank. So, we capped the budget at EUR 1,500 and go through a selection of watches from the first few months of the year to see what’s out there for you to consider adding to the collection!Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba GreenWhen it comes to value for money, the Swatch Group is home to several brands impossible to ignore, Hamilton being one of them. The new Khaki Navy Scuba in 43mm stainless steel case looks very attractive in this new gradient g
Introducing: IWC Big Pilots Watch 43 Tourbillon Le Petit Prince
IWC goes to town with its Big Pilot's Watch, fitted with a tourbillon and dedicated to the protagonist of Le Petit Prince, the charming prince from Antoine de Saint-Exupery's novella. Flaunting the Petit Prince sub-collection's hallmark blue dial, the latest Big Pilot's Watch belongs to the downsized, more manageable 43mm version introduced in 2021.Since 2013, IWC has enjoyed a unique collaboration with the heirs of Saint-Exupery's estate and has dedicated several Pilot watches to the little prince. To mark the tenth anniversary of these editions, IWC reserves 300 pieces of its 43mm Big Pilot's Watch with a case and diamond-shaped conical crown crafted in 18k Armor Gold – a proprietary alloy that is more resilient than conventional 5N gold. With a height of 14.58mm, the case is brushed with a polished bezel, crown and caseback and is water-resistant to 100 metres. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
The 2021 Revamped Omega Seamaster 300 Collection (hands-on photos)
Launched in 2014, the Omega Seamaster 300 – not to be confused with the more modern James Bond Seamaster Diver 300M – has been the brand’s vintage evocation of the original 1957 Seamaster 300. Still, its previous iteration (2014) was perhaps a bit too technical and sporty. Well, Omega has apparently understood that and for 2021, introduces an entirely revamped model. If the basics are still here, meaning a look inspired by the 1957 reference CK2913, the case, the dial, the movement, and most details are new. And there’s even an unprecedented bronze-gold version coming, in a one-of-a-kind alloy. Let’s have a first look, in the metal, at this 2021 Omega Seamaster 300 Collection.Introduced in 1957 alongside the first Speedmaster and the Railmaster – thus creating the iconic Professional trilogy – the Seamaster 300 represents one of the brand’s most important and most influential watches. Its design, with its typical 2-part bezel – comb
Learning to Love the Power of Being Different with Two Hublot Classic Fusion Chronographs - Monochrome Watches
Hublot has always been disruptive. No debate, boldness is a motto there. It's the very essence of the brand to make you either love or hate it. But all that noise overshadows the real power of the Fusion concept: its creative versatility. Let's take a closer look at two very different watches that are actually the same, both based on the Classic Fusion Chronograph.Every year, Dutch retailer Schaap en Citroen offers a special edition Hublot, made for the Dutch market only. And if I say Dutch, I actually mean “Amsterdam” here. The watch is called the Classic Fusion 45mm Chronograph Amsterdam Boutique Ceramic and it is a follow-up to last year's Classic Fusion Aerofusion Chronograph Special Amsterdam Boutique Edition. And that model was preceded by a watch called the Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Ajax Amsterdam. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Tissot Heritage 1973 Chronograph Limited Edition - Introducing (Specs & Price)
Tissot has solid ties with racing. Swiss driver Loris Kessel wore a Navigator chronograph in the 1970s and was officially sponsored by Tissot in the 1976 Formula 1 Grand Prix. The brand is once again working with Kessel Racing, this time with Ronnie Kessel (son of Loris) to launch the limited edition Heritage 1973. The watch has been updated a bit with contemporary touches but maintains many retro elements that made the original Navigator such a compelling piece. A larger case, updated dial and sapphire crystal mark the major differences, and while not technically a reissue, it's a nice throwback to the 1973 classic. Let's take a closer look. The 316L stainless steel case has a satin-brushed finish with polished bevels – typical of the era – with a diameter of 43mm and height of 14.8mm. The cushion case is nearly identical in shape to the smaller 39mm Navigator with a slightly larger crown and pushers. A domed sapphire crystal replaces the Navigator's acrylic and a mineral g
