First Look: The new Sand Gold AP Code 11.59 Flying Tourbillon 38mm
Marking a first for the recently introduced 38mm iteration of Code 11.59, Audemars Piguet equips its most compact reference with an automatic flying tourbillon. Not just any tourbillon, mind you, but AP's ultra-thin calibre 2968, aka RD#3. Representing the best of both worlds, the new Code 11.59 Tourbillon fuses a state-of-the-art movement with a graceful sand gold case sparkling with diamonds.Tourbillon complications were relatively rare in Audemars Piguet's historical repertoire until 1986 when it launched the calibre 2870, the world's first automatic serially produced tourbillon. One of the lightest of its kind thanks to its titanium cage, calibre 2870 weighed just 0.123g and was also one of the thinnest (4.8mm) until it was surpassed by Bulgari's Octo Finissimo in 2018.The 2023 Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Extra-Thin RD#3, fitted with the calibre 2968Celebrating the Royal Oak's 50th anniversary in 2022, AP produced an automatic flying tourbillon to fit in
Ulysse Nardin Marine Mega Watch (Specs & Price)
For a company that built its name as a purveyor of precision marine chronometers, Ulysse Nardin has a long-standing and authentic link to the sea. Combine this with the brand's penchant for extravagant complications and showmanship and you get the Marine Mega Yacht, a watch that combines a flying tourbillon, a tide indicator, a moon phase indicator with miniature lifelike recreations of a ship's features - anchor, chain, propeller, windlass and bow – directly on the dial! With a price tag of just over EUR 300,000, the platinum watch is a limited edition of just 30 pieces. ProvenanceThe Marine Mega Yacht follows in the wake of the Marine Grand Deck Tourbillon, a watch launched by Ulysse Nardin in 2016 with jumping hours, a tourbillon and a unique way to read the retrograde minutes via a nautical boom pulled by nanowires, all set against wood marquetry decking on the dial. In a departure from the Grand Deck Tourbillon that recreated elements of classic sailboats and luxury liners,

How would you define a classical, dress watch? Sit down for a minute and ask the question to yourself and to people next to you… The definition will certainly evolve?around a rather small, elegantly shaped, most probably slim and in gold watch. Then, what complication do you want to see on the dial? A chronograph or a rotating bezel? Certainly not. What about a moon-phases indication? And what about a date? Here is the?Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon 39 Boutique Edition. This watch is nothing about a proper novelty. It’s even a watch that we reviewed recently (short after SIHH 2015) in a stainless steel / black dial combination. What we said about this watch was simple: “This watch is neither a?tourbillon, nor a?minute repeater?or a?skeleton chronograph. Instead, it shows what Jaeger-LeCoultre does on a daily basis, the watches
New brand - Vortic Watch Co. mixing antique American pocket-watch movements and 3D printed cases (live pics & price) - Monochrome Watches
Brands come and go, but history remains, we all know that. And that is exactly what Vortic Watch Co. embodies as a product. Instead of designing, engineering and building an innovative new product, Vortic Watch Co. feels that we had it right the first time and decided to go from there. The American Artisan Series by Vortic Watch Co. was born, roughly a hundred years ago - well at least for the movements, as the 3D printed cases are all except vintage ones.Vortic Watch Co. is headed by three Penn State University graduates, who played around with 3d printing in steel and eventually ended up launching a watch brand. Each and every watch built by Vortic Watch Co. has a 3d printed steel case in various different finishes and dimensions. 3d printing has seen a huge increase of possible applications over the past few years, whether it being plastics, steel or other type of material. We've also seen some of these applications wander over into the watch industry, like the 3d printed dials of A
