Introducing: An X-Ray Unitas Adorns the Dial of this Mido Multifort Mechanical
The Unitas, known under the names ETA 6498 and 6497 (depending on its configuration, Lepine or Savonette), is without a doubt one of the most important and most long-lasting movements of the Swiss industry. This simple, no-nonsense but reliable hand-wound movement has been produced since the 1950s, yet originates from classic pocket watch calibres. Often seen as an entry-level and quite mundane alternative, it shouldn’t however be overlooked. And Mido, a brand owned by the Swatch Group, owner of ETA, has decided to give this movement its credentials back, putting an X-ray image of its mechanics right on the dial. Pretty cool, maybe even cooler than an entry-level openworked movement. There’s been a bit of a trend recently with so-called sketched dials, watches where the movement inside the case was suggested by a drawing on the dial – such as this Octo Finissimo Automatic 140th anniversary, or a unique Czapek for TimeforArt auction. Mido somehow brings the same concept
Hands-on - Chopard L.U.C Time Traveler One Black (Specs & Price)
Chopard introduced the L.U.C Time Traveler One in 2016. Marking the first world timer to join the L.U.C collection, the Time Traveler One shows the time in all 24 time zones simultaneously and is operated by an internal 24-hour ring. The standout feature of Chopard's globetrotter's watch is the Super Compressor-style case with two crowns and an internal rotating bezel, a case largely associated with instrument dive watches. For 2021, Chopard revisits its popular Time Traveler One in monochrome with a matte ceramised titanium case in a limited run of 250 pieces.World Time at a glanceWith current travel restrictions in place, global travel might be a distant dream for most of us. However, world time watches are also useful for conducting business around the world and making sure you don't wake up your business partner in Taipei in the wee hours of the morning. Patek Philippe Nautilus Annual Calendar 5726 Gradient Blue Dial (Specs & Price)
These days it seems that any watch model from Patek Philippe that has the word Nautilus in its title is in great demand – and short supply. The two crowd favourites are of course the Ref. 5711 and the Ref. 5712. Both have seen their resale values skyrocket in the past few years and it doesn't look like things will abate any time soon. In fact, the last I heard, the wait time for a 5711 from the Patek Salon here in London is around a decade. Of course, there are more than two models in the Nautilus line-up. Today, we're taking a closer look at one that is perhaps sometimes overlooked by eager would-be collectors. This is the Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 5726/1A, complete with new gradient blue dial.A Little Bit Of HistoryIn 2006, Patek Philippe celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Nautilus by redesigning the entire collection and launching four new models. This was a major move and sparked a new level of interest in the brand's luxury steel sports watches. Included amongst the n
In-Depth: Diving with the Sinn U50, The Smaller German Diving Instrument
If you're on this website, reading the latest article in my diving test series, there's a pretty good chance that you have at least a passing familiarity with Sinn watches. There is an equally good chance that most of your non-watch-nerd friends, family, and colleagues do not. Flying just under the radar, Sinn has been producing beautifully well-made toolwatches for over 60 years now. If there's any brand that functions as a nod and a wink and a horological secret handshake, it's this Uhrmacher aus Germany. And that handshake has to be done with an iconic diving instrument (it really is that) on the wrist, a Sinn U1 Or should it be its smaller, more versatile brother, the Sinn U50?A Bit of HistoryFounded in Frankfurt in 1961 by former WWII pilot and flight instructor Helmut Sinn, the brand initially focused on the manufacture of navigation clocks and pilot chronographs. In the 1960s and 1970s Sinn manufactured watch cases for military and consumer use, including the notable Heuer/Sinn

Vacheron Constantin is looking back on its remarkable 260 years of history, and offers a series of celebratory collections, such as the all-new Harmony collection and the two Metiers d'Art Mecaniques Gravees timepieces. The third offering cultivates on artisanal crafts gathered since their foundation in 1755.
