The Archimedes by Milus, Now in Wild Green (Specs & Price)
The fluid-tight “compressor” or “super-compressor” technology was patented during the 1950s, by Ervin Piquerez SA, a famous watch case manufacturer from Bassecourt in the Swiss Jura. Cases equipped with this technology have given birth to iconic dive watches across many brands, including Jaeger-LeCoultre, Hamilton, Longines, or Bulova. The most famous “compressor” EPSA cases had a dual-crown style, one to wind the movement and set the time (and the date, if any), the other to operate the internal rotating bezel. This distinctive look remains highly popular with dive watch aficionados. Among the watches with such design is the Archimedes by Milus, a modern take on one of the brand's 1960s divers. The model is now presented in a cool green hue.One of the original Milus Archimedes that inspired the modern versionNamed upon the ancient Greek mathematician, physicist and inventor, famous for his principle applying on a body immersed in a fluid, the Archim
Hands-On: The New Blue Patek Philippe Chronograph Annual Calendar 5905R
The annual calendar chronograph is a thoroughbred Patek Philippe product, a testament to the brand's impressive talent for combining complications and inventiveness. Invented and patented by Patek, the annual calendar complication debuted in 1996 and ten years later, it was married to a flyback chronograph (with the reference 5960). More robust than a perpetual calendar and chronograph combo and about a third of the price, the annual calendar chronograph delivers the best of both worlds in hallmark Patek style. Earlier this year, Patek unveiled a new edition of its?reference 5905R in a rose gold case with a majestic royal blue dial.Quick BioCalendar and chronograph combinations are signature Patek Philippe creatures, incarnated by the legendary reference 1518 of 1941, which married a perpetual calendar to a chronograph for the first time in watchmaking history. A more recent milestone in the brand's history was reached in 1996 with the introduction of the world's first annual calendar.
Hands-on: The Tissot PRX Chronograph Gradient Green
The PRX collection continues to capture attention, with Tissot consistently introducing cool new designs that resonate with consumers. This series has become popular for its competitive pricing, appealing aesthetics, and solid performance features. Drawing inspiration from Tissot’s 1978 Seastar - a sports watch with an integrated bracelet - the PRX series (Precise, Robust, with the X representing 10 bars of water-resistance) was born. Although the name and concept were initially short-lived, they were rediscovered in 2020 and reintroduced at just the right moment in 2021.The collection made a strong comeback, first with quartz-powered PRX models and then with the Powermatic 80 versions, which quickly became hits in a market hungry for such designs. An Automatic Chronograph took a year to join the PRX line-up, blending classic design elements, vintage inspiration and modern touches. With the introduction of Tissot PRX Automatic Chronograph Green, four PRX chrono references exist.
