Icons stand the test of time. Born in 1969, El Primero (the first in Spanish) is still regarded as one of the best and most accurate chronograph movements ever created. Part of a trilogy of automatic chronograph calibres that hit the market in 1969, it is the only one that is still produced to date. Interview - Luc Pettavino About Only Watch 2019
The eighth edition of the biennial fundraiser for research on Muscular Dystrophy will take place on Saturday 9 November 2019 in Geneva, where unique timepieces created by some of the world's best watchmakers will be auctioned. We took some time in Baselworld to meet its founder Luc Pettavino, President of the “Association Monegasque Contre les Myopathies”, to discuss the new edition and its programme. How did you start Only Watch?I was the organizer of the Monaco Yacht Show. In 1999, just before the Yacht Show, I saw a TV programme with Jean-Claude Biver. At the Yacht Show, Jean-Claude was visiting Wally Yachts, I went to introduce myself and Blancpain became a sponsor of the Yacht Show. This is how I got to know the Swatch Group. In 2004, I thought I was contributing to research but that w

It is widely known that IWC has experience with ceramic watches since it was the first brand to release a timepiece made of zirconium oxide (the real name for ceramic) in 1985 with the Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar. In recent years, the Schaffhausen-based brand has been playing a lot with colours, releasing Top Gun models in black (of course), beige (Mojave), green (Woodland), blue (Oceana) and white, with the Lake Tahoe editions, until now available with a chronograph movement or a perpetual calendar. Now, the concept returns in a simpler, smaller and more accessible watch based on the Mark XX range, with the new Pilot’s Watch Automatic 41 TOP GUN Lake Tahoe IW328104.What we’re looking at here is essentially a “Tahoed” version of the Mark XX, the latest evolution in the classic Mark series of IWC. As such, you won’t be surprised to see that most of the specifications of this new compact Lake Tahoe are shared with the standard steel models, as well as the li
Introducing: The Green/Rubber TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph 44mm
Released in 2020, the Carrera Chronograph 44mm marked the revamp of the collection, which now comprises various models ranging from classic to vintage-inspired, and sporty with this larger model. Equipped with the in-house Heuer 02 movement, it will form next to the sleeker 42mm the cornerstone of the modern Carrera line. When first presented by TAG Heuer, 4 editions were at the heart of this sub-collection, which included black and blue versions with matching ceramic bezels, as well as a green version, yet with steel bezel. But it’s now been replaced by a new version, that not only brings a green ceramic bezel but also a new rubber strap, unseen yet on other models.Even if it is the direct descendant of a watch born in 1963 – indeed, it is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year – the Carrera Chronograph 44mm is all about modernity. Surely, it boasts some classic Carrera design elements, such as the faceted lugs and the overall sharp design of its case and dial, a
