The Robust And Tool-like Isotope Hydrium California Limited Edition
Over 70% of our precious Earth is covered in water, and huge areas of it have not yet been fully explored. It’s very likely we’ll never manage to discover all the far corners of the oceans, as they are one of the most challenging environments mankind can face. The main issue is pressure, which increases by 1 bar (or 14.5 PSI) every ten meters down. At 60 meters below the surface, the pressure is already seven times the air pressure we face on land. That hasn’t deterred us from diving into the deep and finding out as much as possible about underwater life as we can. Professional and recreational diving has long relied on mechanical watches for timing a descent and, more importantly, the ascent to avoid running into issues such as decompression sickness. And even with dives now being timed by computer instruments, the appeal of a mechanical dive watch has stuck. The robust nature of a dive watch is the reason we still see so many of them, ranging from very affordable to
The new 2014 Omega Seamaster 300 - what it should look like when presented in Baselworld - Monochrome Watches
Baselworld 2014 is really close and at Monochrome Watches headquarters we are all craving for the new models that will be presented. A few days ago, we've played with rumours about and Tudor and yesterday Omega posted an intriguing image on their Facebook page. So we've played with Photoshop again, and here is a preview of what we think what Omega’s new Seamaster will look like. Since we already know that Omega will present a re-edition of the Speedmaster Mark II (that we introduced here) we’re super curious about that dark picture. It shows some deep-water scenery with Another wonder is about to emerge from the Ocean’s darkness and Few watches are worthy of the word iconic written on it. Puzzling, isn't it? And then came something really intriguing (and frustrating) - a very dark picture only showing a watch's outlines. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
The Petrolhead Corner - The James Bond Edition - The Best, The Forgotten and The Future Cars Driven By Secret Agent 007
Looking at a James Bond movie is, for men, like a kid going to the amusement park… Obviously, everything a man can dream of is there (I know, this will sound a bit simple-minded, if not almost misogynist…), and that includes the nice girls, the fine liquors, the elegant wardrobe, the great locations, the cool watches, the action and… an impressive selection of cars. Some iconic, some to forget, some clearly under-appreciated. So, in our latest episode of this fuel-infused column, The Petrolhead Corner, we take a look at the best, the forgotten and the future cars driven by the world’s most famous secret agent, James Bond a.k.a. 007. Hands-on Certina DS Super PH500M Sea Turtle Conservancy (Price)
Certina’s turtle logo is a symbol of resilience and was inspired by the brand’s Double Security or DS Concept, first incorporated inside a shock-resistant automatic 200m water-resistant watch of 1959. The turtle logo also provided a natural bridge to Certina’s involvement with the Florida-based Sea Turtle Conservancy (STC), the world’s oldest sea turtle research and conservation group founded in the same year as Certina’s DS Concept. For 2022, the annual STC edition has been picked from the Certina DS Super PH500M family, combining vintage flair with a bright royal blue shell and a matching strap made from recycled ocean plastic. The DS Super PH500M takes inspiration from a 1960s model that was used in the Tektite I programme (1969-1970), in which aquanauts lived in an underwater habitat for prolonged periods of time to conduct saturation diving missions and study the effect of closed environments on human biology and psychology.
