This timepiece is a fantastic product from the Portofino collection of IWC. The watch has a stainless steel blue dial and a black alligator-pattern leather strap that gives a stylish yet decent look to your wrist. Moreover, a moon phase display beautifully lights the phases of the moon and embellishes the dial to the fullest. The entire dial features a sapphire glass that possesses an anti-reflective and scratch-resistant coating, which keeps it safe from unwanted marks on both sides. Watch fanciers will find it appropriate as it also exhibits a power reserve indicator, mini sub-dial, and date feature.

Girard-Perregaux Traveller Large Date, Moonphase & GMT now with sapphire dial (Live Photos, specs and price) - Monochrome-Watches
Showing the movement has become the rule in watchmaking. Whether it’s a superbly finished haute horology or a simple entry-level engine, brands are now manufacturing the majority of their watches with a sapphire caseback – meaning having a view on the back of its movement. Although?some?3-hand watches have almost nothing to show on the dial-side of the movement, more complicated timepieces that can be proudly exposed from every angle. That’s what GP wants to demonstrate and show off with its new watch, the?Girard-Perregaux Traveller Large Date, Moonphase & GMT that now features a sapphire dial that reveals some?usually hidden?technical parts.?Technically speaking, this new edition with sapphire dial of the?Girard-Perregaux Traveller Large Date, Moonphase & GMT is fully identical to the classical edition we’ve seen last year. The evolution is purely visual, with some new decorations and the introduction of this see-through dial. As said, if a 3-hand watch
Baume & Mercier Clifton 8-Day Power Reserve (specs and price) - Monochrome-Watches
Another novelty from Watch &?Wonders 2014. And a pretty interesting one too. To celebrate its 185th anniversary, Baume & Mercier will please the collectors with a refined and elegant watch. You’ll argue that the brand is already used to create such watches. Yes, it is true. But this one plays?into another mechanical level, as it comes with a large, complicated IWC movement. Here is the Baume & Mercier Clifton 8-Day Power Reserve. The Clifton can be seen as the flagship timepiece of the brand. We recently reviewed the Retrograde Date Edition and we’ve been quite impressed by the quality of the package delivered. It is clearly?not a passionate’s or collector’s watch, but it is a solid choice as a refined daily beater. However, into the collection, some of the watches are playing into another category: more refined, more complicated and more collectible. The first example was the?Baume & Mercier Clifton 1830. No more ETA /?Soprod movement and stainle
Hands-on: The New Maurice Lacroix Pontos S Diver Is Dressed To Impress
In traditional connotation, the dress watch is what you wear to an evening event, supposedly dressed to fit the occasion, in a suit or even a tuxedo. But what if your evening is about going out to bars, restaurants, and seaside clubs, where short sleeves and sandals are more welcome? You put on a watch that fits right in, a dress diver if you will, and the new editions of the Maurice Lacroix Pontos S Diver should be one of the few stylish choices to consider.Maurice Lacroix launched the Pontos S Diver series in 2013, the company recently revealed a new 2023 model which we introduced to you a couple of weeks ago. The updated release concerns three models with 300m water resistance, two in stainless steel and one limited edition of 500 pieces in bronze. All three come in compressor-style cases of 42 mm in diameter, with twin crowns and an inner rotating bezel. This dive watch design certainly stood the test of time, but as it’s always about the details, here they are. Ad
Milus Archimedes 1970s Reissue Super Compressor // Hands-On, Price
As the trend for vintage-inspired watches consolidates, brands continue to dig into their archives to find inspiration and breathe new life into past models. Milus, a brand with over 100 years of history and recently revived has some rich background in field watches and divers’ instruments. Following the Snow Star, the brand also reissues one of its most famous models, the 1970s Super Compressor dive watch, with the new and objectively cool Archimedes by Milus.Historical BackgroundThe name Archimedes naturally refers to the ancient Greek mathematician, physicist and inventor, Archimedes of Syracuse, often considered the greatest mathematician of antiquity and famous for the Archimedes’ principle (the forces exerted on a body immersed in a fluid). The original 1970s Milus Super Compressor watch, with Ervin Piquerez SA case, that served as the inspiration for the modern version presented today. This name has been used by Milus to label dive watches since the 1960s, in particula
Rebirth: Carl Suchy & Sohne Walz 1 - Hands-on with Photos, Specs and Price - Monochrome Watches
It's an age-old recipe; a name from the past to cement your future. A watch company goes bust due to some crisis, lays dormant for a good number of years, and is eventually resurrected with passion and a large sum of money. Most?never make it past the drawing board, some actually make it to prototyping and a few eventually produce actual watches. We've seen this with high-end brands like Ferdinand Berthoud?and?Czapek, or in lower price-brackets with Lebois & Co for instance, all being built on foundations of yesteryear. The latest resurrection to join the party is Carl Suchy & Sohne, and today we're introducing you to the Carl Suchy & Sohne Waltz N¡ã1. Carl Suchy & Sohne clock factory in Prague, then part of the Austrian Empire Carl Suchy & Sohne workshop in Vienna, opened in 1863 by Carl Suchy’s second son The history of Carl Suchy & Sohne goes back to the Austrian-Hungarian empire, now almost 200 years ago.
