Geneva Watch Days 2020 Postponed To August 26th-29th-2020
After Watches & Wonders (ex-SIHH) and Baselworld announced the cancellation of their 2020 editions amid fears of a possible COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic, a group of brands decided that they could react to this situation and offer, through agility and ingenuity, a different approach to the presentation of new watches. With these lost opportunities to meet retailers and the press, watch brands need to handle business that would have got done there, but in a different way. Hence the creation of the “Geneva Watch Days 2020”. But this was a couple of weeks ago and things have changed in Europe, drastically. With the current situation and containment policies in most European countries and Switzerland, the Geneva Watch Days can no longer be, at least until the end of August 2020.What were the Geneva Watch Days 2020? It was a self-managed, decentralized, multi-brand event to be held from 26 to 29 April 2020, at the exact same dates as the cancelled Watches & Wonders 2020.
Hands-On With The Final Edition Of The Ferdinand Berthoud Chronometre FB 2T (With Video)
Ferdinand Berthoud stages the swan song of its impressive calibre FB-T.FC. that made its debut in 2015 on board the FB1. Inspired by Ferdinand Berthoud's historical marine chronometers, the fascinating tourbillon movement with fusee-and-chain transmission took home the top prize at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve in 2016 and has secured the brand a firm footing in the Haute Horlogerie arena. Respecting the original dial configuration of the FB 1 and powered by the same movement, the final act of the Chronometre FB, composed of 38 customisable pieces, exchanges its octagonal hull for a round case.Enlightened TimesFerdinand Berthoud (1727-1807) emigrated from Switzerland to Paris in 1745 at the age of 18. It was an inspired location for a young man of such exceptional talent. The cradle of the Age of Enlightenment, Paris was a hotbed of intellectual and scientific inquiry. The French Academy of Sciences (Academie des Sciences?1666), founded to encourage and protect French scientifi
Longines Heritage Classic Tuxedo Chronograph (Specs & Price)
We’ve said it already and we’ll probably say it again, but Longines is on fire when it comes to its “Heritage” collection, with many handsome, highly desirable vintage-inspired watches launched in the past couple of years. Think about the Heritage Classic Sector Dial, the recently revamped Avigation Watch Type A-7 1935 or the Heritage Military RAF. Among these modern models inspired by historical pieces, there was one that really caught our attention: the Longines Heritage Classic Tuxedo Chronograph. And today we give it some wrist time.?Presented earlier this year along with a small seconds version, the Longines Heritage Classic Tuxedo Chronograph is, as you would have guessed, a modern re-edition of a historical Longines watch. Founded in 1832, Longines is one of the oldest brands of the Swiss watch industry still active today. As such, you can imagine that its heritage collection is big and constitutes an immense source of inspiration for today's designers. T

At CHF 3,612 million, net sales are up 7.4% compared to the previous year at constant exchange rates, or 6.5% at current rates. The operating profit is up 25.1% at CHF 503 million. The Group reports double-digit growth for major markets, in particular Europe, America and the Middle East. However, the business has been impacted negatively by China's latest Covid lockdowns, just like for other luxury conglomerates. Swatch Group evaluates that sales losses have been approximately CHF 400 million, due to closures of warehouses and many retail stores in April and May in China. The Ukraine conflict had less than a 1% impact on Group sales.Commenting on its brands' performance, Swatch Group highlighted the impressive success of the Bioceramic MoonSwatch. Interestingly, at the same time, Omega was confronted with supply shortages impacting the Speedmaster Moonwatch, afte
