Weekly Watch Photo - Hautlence HL05 - Monochrome Watches
When it comes to extremely beautiful photos of beautiful watches, it is like with almost everything else in the world. Someone started, another person liked the idea and started doing something similar and slowly more and more starting doing the same. Not exactly the same of course and that’s a good thing, because every photographer – professional or talented amateur – has his/her own style. When I think back I can only think of two persons who frequently amazed watch enthusiast with their brilliant photos, online that is!I can actually only think of two who shared their brilliant photos online and they were actually the first to start something that we’ve grown accustomed to. Now-a-days we’re treated with the visual watch candy shot by star photographers – like Guy Lucas de Peslouan, Ming Thein and Mike Melia – and others like Watch Anish or extremely talented amateurs like Edwin Heusinkveld, Marcus Behnke, Gary Getz and others. These two pers
2021 Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional Sedna Gold Hands-On
Unless you’ve been living in a non-connected world for the last two weeks, you’ll know that Omega has just launched a new, profoundly updated version of its classic Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional, now equipped with a new movement – with Co-Axial escapement and Master Chronometer-certified – and with a new design. After looking closely at the two steel models and the high-end Canopus gold version, it is time to look at the fourth version that Omega has presented, this time with its own pink gold alloy. So here’s the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional Sedna Gold. The Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional in yellow gold, reference 3195.50 (photo by lunaroyster.com)While the Speedmaster is usually associated with stainless steel (it remains first and foremost a racing instrument chronograph), the concept of a precious metal Moonwatch is not new. In the past, mostly for limited or commemorative editions, gold or platinum have been used by Omega on m
Book Chronographs for collectors by Joel Pynson and Sebastian Chaulmontet - Monochrome Watches
Today, we have something different for you, as we would like to share a very interesting book, written by Jo?l Pynson and Sebastian Chaulmontet (the man behind Arnold & Son and Angelus), named Chronographs for Collectors. The authors conducted thorough research into the origins of the chronograph and 30 chronographs. Chronographs have always been among the most difficult movements to design, and a lot of technical skills are required to produce these watches. The 30 models selected are historical, and characteristic the period. For each watch, a synopsis of its history, expert opinion, an overview of similar models, and an assessment of rarity, price level, and technology. The authors aim to help collectors, to make knowledgeable buying-decisions about vintage chronographs.Did you know that the term “chronograph” goes back to a stopwach developed by Nicolas-Mathieu Rieussec in 1821, where a hand dropped ink on the dial to mark the start and the end of a time interval? Two unique Porsche cars from opposite ends of the world
It's always fun to try and find a suitable topic for The Petrolhead Corner, our weekly episodic slice of car-related content. Every Saturday we publish a story that interests us, and hopefully is fun to read for you as well. This week we have a trio of cars lined up all sharing the same badge, but stemming from very different parts of the world. The two cars in question couldn't be much different though, as we go from a vintage Porsche turned into a Pike's Peak monster, to a full-fledged electric race car that’s destined for the future! World's apart, but kindred spirits.Porsche is one of the most prolific sports car manufacturers in the industry, even though they sell more non-sportscars than actual sports cars. And by non-sportscars, I mean SUV’s and such, no matter how fast they might be. The core of the brand is still very much the 911, but over the past 20 years or so the company has had huge success in taking that 911 spirit into new territories. Cars like the Cayenne
