Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary SLGH002 new Calibre 9SA5 - Specs & Price
We didn't expect anything less. To celebrate its 60th anniversary, Grand Seiko launches its new hi-beat mechanical calibre 9SA5, the foundation stone for an entirely new generation of Grand Seiko watches. Representing an advancement as revolutionary as the first calibre 9S of 1998 – the base movement powering all watches in the Grand Seiko (barring Spring Drive) collection to date – the new 9SA5 maintains the high-beat frequency but extends the power reserve and adds an extremely rare Dual Impulse Escapement. Making its inaugural voyage onboard the newly designed yellow gold time-and-date Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary SLGH002, the watch will be available at Grand Seiko boutiques in August 2020.Raising the stakes with the 9SA5The challenge for Seiko's development team was to deliver the same level of stable accuracy found in the existing high-beat 36,000vph movement (the 9Sxx?hi-beat family) but extend the power reserve from 55 hours to 80 hours and slim down the movement. Buying Guide: 5 Nautical-Inspired Watches To Wear On The Deck Of Your Boat
The idea of getting a watch for summer often goes down to sourcing a dive watch… It’s the easy solution. Robust, cool, suitable for underwater adventures, sporty and not too flashy (not always), a dive watch will do the job. Even better if you combine it with a GMT complication, practical if you ever cross time zones. But, it can also sometimes be too focused, or too instrumental. If you’re about to embark on a trip onboard a boat this summer, while also planning?stopovers in nice seaside places, you might want something a bit more elegant. This is the mission of the so-called nautical watch, also known as skipper or regatta, and we’ve listed 5 that will surely fulfil the job.?Breguet Marine Alarme Musicale 5547 TitaniumWhile also available in rose or white gold, the classy and complex Marine Alarme Musicale 5547 can be chosen in an undeniable nautical-inspired combination of titanium with a blue dial. Robust enough, yet elegant and finished as a Breguet should
First Look: The New Zenith Chronomaster Sport Titanium
Zenith captured the attention and resonated strongly with enthusiasts in 2021 by unveiling the Chronomaster Sport collection. Setting itself apart from its predecessors, the series introduced several distinctive elements. Notably, the bezel graduated to 1/10th of a second, a departure from the traditional and arguably redundant tachymeter scale found on many chronographs. Following multiple variants in steel, with ceramic or metal bezel, as well as precious metal variations, it is time for this sports chronograph to become bolder, more technical and lighter, with the new, highly monochromatic Zenith Chronomaster Sport Titanium.?The Chronomaster Sport immediately hinted at its potential to become another iconic Zenith design. Since its debut, the collection has expanded, offering a variety of colours, materials, and price points. Among its offerings is a standout full-gold reference adorned with precious stones, concealing the beloved 1/10th of a second scale beneath its opulence. While
First Look: The Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle and Patrimony 270th-Anniversary Collection
Select members of Vacheron Constantin's Traditionnelle and Patrimony families have been invited to join in the 270th-anniversary celebrations. Eight references from both families have been singled out for the special treatment and flaunt dials decorated with a unique motif created for the 270th anniversary of the brand. As important as the dial, the manufacture calibres are also given distinctive finishings that will set them apart as anniversary pieces. The Traditionnelle collection pays homage to Geneva's haute horlogerie traditions. Distinguished by its classic cases with stepped lugs, fluting and a slender bezel, other features of this family are the railway-style minutes track, the faceted gold Dauphine hour and minute hands and the applied gold hour markers. The Patrimony collection is inspired by the ultra-thin round timepieces crafted by Vacheron Constantin in the 1950s. Characterised by an elegant minimalism, Patrimony timepieces share gently domed dials with slender curved hou
Vacheron Constantin Overseas Steel and Titanium - Monochrome Watches
The Vacheron Constantin Overseas is one of the watches that I’ve liked since I first saw it. So a post about this watch has been long overdue. Recently I visted Brussels for a nice weekend and I just happened to walk by a Vacheron Constantin dealer. In the window they had the Overseas Chronograph Steel & Titanium on display, a model that I hadn’t seen or touched so I went in to have a look. Not sure if that was a smart move, because it’s an absolute gorgeous watch and it moved up in the wishlist with lightning speed. The first models of the Overseas Steel & Titanium collection?where launched in the summer of 2009. These where the?Overseas Automatic and the Overseas Automatic Chronograph. Both? feature a monochromatic (gosh, I love that word) grey theme with finely brushed stainless steel cases and anthracite titanium bezels. In 2010 Vacheron Constantin launched another model in this collection, the Overseas Dual Time Steel & Titanium. Ad - Scroll
