The Collector's Series: Kristian Haagen and his A. Lange & Sohne Datograph Perpetual - Monochrome-Watches
In our second instalment of the Collector Series we sit down with one of the coolest guys in watches, Kristian Haagen. He’s a watch enthusiast (watchgeek), collector, author, lecturer and advisor to auctioneers (it must be tough when people ask what he does for a living at dinner parties!). However you may know him best for his mind-blowing photography and instantly recognisable fluorescent bracelet wrist shots on Instagram. In this episode we discuss one of his most iconic pieces, the A. Lange & Sohne Datograph Perpetual, the extended version of the ‘regular’ Datograph that is also affectionately know by some as the Dufour-graph. Top 10 Dive Watches of 2020 by MONOCHROME - Buying Guide
Dive watches… are not even a style or a category of watches anymore, but a proper market with its own codes, its icons, its contenders, its specifications and its aficionados. Needless to say that a well-built and nicely designed dive watch is almost a necessity for accessible or luxury watch brands, with only a minority not having its own take on the aquatic timepiece. And I’d go as far as saying that a dive watch is a must in every collection. With this in mind, we couldn’t make our lists of favourite 2020 watches without taking a look at diving-oriented models. From accessible to high-end, from all-time-classics to original takes, from modern to vintage-oriented, here are the 10 dive watches that we think stole the show in 2020.Note: this list is based on our own preferences. First Look: The Tudor Black Bay Ceramic Blue 79210CNU
There’s already plenty said about the Black Bay collection and its effect on Tudor as a brand. Yes, it’s a gargantuan success and yes it’s home to countless iterations by now, and more will likely come further down the line. From its humble beginnings in 2012 with the release of the Black Bay Burgundy 79220R to bronze, silver and gold models, we’ve seen it all it seems. But surprisingly, Tudor has managed to keep the Black Bay’s momentum going by introducing new sizes, slightly changing its overall design (here’s looking at you Black Bay 54!) and adding a touch of complexity with GMTs and Chronographs. Recently though, they’ve perhaps launched the ‘freshest’ Black Bay in a long while, the Black Bay Ceramic Blue! This Black Bay Ceramic Blue is nothing really new under the sun as it’s mostly about the dial colour and of course the connection to the VCARB Formula 1 racing team. Early this year, Tudor announced it would enter the f
The 2022 Tudor Ranger 39mm 79950 In-House (Specs-Price)
While most of us might know Tudor (at least its modern side) for the countless editions of the Black Bay, the brand has far more to offer… And that, for its historical or modern collections. If you recall, in 2014 Tudor paid tribute to its involvement into exploration, by bringing back an important model, the Ranger. A robust, no-nonsense instrument made for adventure, it came back modernized with an oversized case but the same overall spirit. The Tudor Ranger has since been discontinued, but today it’s back with multiple evolutions, making it a far stronger offering. 39mm in size, equipped with a chronometer movement and some tricks under its sleeve, here’s the new 2022 Tudor Ranger 79950.?Tudor, Exploration and the BNGE is known by many for its connection with exploration, as of the 1930s, including testing watches on Himalayan expeditions. The peak of this story occurred with Sir Edmund Hillary and expedition partner Tenzing Norgay, when they summit Mount Everest
