A. Lange & Sohne Richard Lange Jumping Seconds (hands-on, live photos, price) - Monochrome Watches
The Richard Lange Jumping Seconds watch is yet another exemplary achievement of the watchmakers from Glashutte. The watch is all about precision and innovation but also about history and heritage. The 39.9mm timepiece will be produced in platinum and is limited to 100 pieces. It combines a display of seconds in strict one-second intervals with some other clever features in honouring F.A. Lange's invention of 1867.About Jumping secondsThe jumping second – also referred to as dead second (because the hand does not move between steps) or seconde morte – is a complication that moves the seconds-hand at every exact second. First Look: New Gold Versions of the AP Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked 37mm
Openworked or skeletonised watches are treats for the more mechanical-minded admirers of watchmaking, and the more complex the movement, the better. In 2016, Audemars Piguet increased the viewing pleasure two-fold when it unveiled its Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked ref. 15407. As its name indicates, the movement was equipped with two balance wheels, one exposed on the dial of the 41mm watch. The latest duet to join the collection are two models with 37mm diameters in white or pink gold powered by the in-house calibre 3132. However, the novelty here is the tone-on-tone palette that matches the colour of the case material with the movement. The two is better than one premise behind the RO Double Balance Wheel Openworked, explained in this video, features two balance wheels to increase chronometric performance and stability. However, to access and regulate each balance spring individually, AP's watchmakers placed the two balance wheels and two hairsprings on a single axis but se
The 2021 Bvlgari Serpenti Spiga Collection - Hands-on, Price
The Bvlgari Serpenti design has enjoyed cult status since the 1940s, blurring the lines between a piece of jewellery and a watch. As one of the oldest collections in Bvlgari's catalogue, it propelled the company into the spotlight with its unique design inspired by the body and head of a snake. The most recent iterations within the collection include the Serpenti Scaglie introduced in 2009, followed by the Tubogas collection in 2010. The Serpenti Spiga watch, however, unveiled for the first time in 2014, shows an even more refined level of craftsmanship with an intricate “matelasse” pattern inspired by a stalk of wheat. The complexity behind the design of the snake watch has not gone unnoticed with this new interpretation inspired by an earlier watch designed from 1957 that featured a square-shaped face and modular bracelet construction. The three new women's Bvlgari Serpenti Spiga watches are comprised by a single coil 18kt rose gold model and two double coil models in 18kt
