Wilhelm Schmid, 10 Year at the Helm at A. Lange & Sohne - Monochrome Watches
Wilhelm Schmid has been ten years with the brand that ‘never stands still’. After a career at BMW, among others in South Africa, he arrived in Glashutte to be the new CEO at A. Lange & Sohne, the pinnacle of German watchmaking. With a background in sales and a strong passion for mechanics, it seemed like a match made in heaven. Wilhelm Schmid's past ten years at Lange were during a pretty turbulent period. It already started in the aftermath of the massive global recession that started in 2008, now the corona pandemic that has a huge influence on the watch industry, the opening of the new manufacture, and of course the sad passing of Walter Lange.?Frank Geelen, MONOCHROME Watches – How was it, ten years ago, to arrive in Glashutte at a watch company, after a long career at BMW in sunny South Africa? Introducing New Omega De Ville Prestige Models for 2020 (Price)
There’s far more to Omega than just its iconic sports watches, the well-known Speedmaster and Seamaster. Even though the brand has slightly simplified its offering over the years, two other collections, both focused on elegance, need to be mentioned. First is the Constellation, timepieces inspired by the brand’s precision models of the past. Second is the De Ville, which can be defined as the brand’s classic, elegant collection, including ladies’ models and sleek, refined watches for men. Today, the timeless, slightly 1960s-inspired De Ville Prestige collection is enlarged with 5 new references, which come with redesigned dials and a luxurious combination of materials.?The De Ville Prestige is Omega’s collection for those who want something classic, elegant and restrained. Proportions are compact, dials are detailed, refined yet timeless, movements are relatively simple but still in line with Omega’s devotion to precision and reliability. The De Vill
Frederique Constant Highlife Perpetual Calendar Manufacture Review
Earlier this year, Frederique Constant, the brand known for its accessible luxury focus, entered the crowded and hyperactive market of the sports watch with its?Highlife collection. In addition to the classic time-and-date and Heart Beat models, a third and far more complex iteration was launched in the form of a perpetual calendar. In the rarefied world of perpetual calendars, the Frederique Constant Highlife positions itself as an accessible perpetual calendar watch. With a price tag below 10k euros, this is a model you can wear every day, everywhere. An interesting mix of sportiness, elegance, complex horology and fair price, we had to see this in the metal.?The perpetual calendar is often considered one of the most desirable complications one could wish for in a collection. It is regarded as the ultimate type of calendar movement since it automatically takes into account all the oddities of the Gregorian calendar that is used in almost all cultures. This means that no adjustments a
Hands-On - Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin Perpetual Enamel 2019 Limited (Specs & Price)
Since its facelift in 2013, the Master Ultra-Thin Perpetual has appeared in various guises, including the sleek black dial version we saw in 2016. However, I think there is unanimous agreement that the 2019 white gold version with its blue enamel guilloche dial wins hands down. Released as part of a limited edition trilogy, including the Master Ultra-Thin Moon Enamel and Tourbillon models, the new members of the Master-Thin Enamel family stole the show. The watch we will be looking at today comes with a revised movement and display and indicates the phases of the Moon in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. The Master Ultra-Thin Perpetual Enamel we’re reviewing today is part of a sub-collection of 3 watches (all in limited production), depicting superb enamel/guilloche dials in translucent blue.Realigning the QP functionsLike its predecessor, the case of the new Master Ultra-Thin Perpetual still measures 39mm but is crafted in gleaming white gold and has a slightly thicker
