A. Lange & Sohne Lange 1 Timezone - a Personal Story pt. 2 - Monochrome Watches
A few weeks ago we published the first part of my personal story with A. Lange & Sohne. To me, this brand has played an important role in the past one-and-a-half decade of watch collecting, learning about mechanical watches and making Monochrome into what it is today. After that memorable weekend back in 2007, there was another memorable weekend. Another weekend that was important for me, and for Monochrome, and again the Lange 1 Timezone had a prominent role.?That second memorable weekend was only a few years ago, in 2013, when I was invited to spent a few days with A. Lange & Sohne at Lake Como, in Northern Italy. I had just quit my job as policy advisor of the Minister of Transport, to start doing Monochrome full-time – until than I (somehow) managed to run Monochrome in my spare time, during evenings, weekends, and holidays. That was a?big step for me, and for the website!?It was in May and the weather was so-so, a bit of rain, some cold winds, and when the sun broke

Paint it black - the new Xetum Tyndall PVD - Monochrome Watches
Black watches are more then ever before a fashionable thing. Black luxury sports watches, like this unique set of dive watches from Richard Mille, are already well accepted. Lately we also see black dress watches like this Girard-Perregaux Tourbillon Bi-Axial or this unique Piaget Altiplano for Only Watch.?Xetum is now painting it black and they do it in style. The Tyndall is one of Xetum’s watch models and we reviewed it for you here. A lovely and very affordable timepiece and now it comes in a black jacket. With a black leather strap and a black rotor and a black deployant clasp. A complete black Tyndall that looks absolutely very fine. Ad - Scroll to continue with article The Tyndall comes in a matte black PDV coated case. The black dial with white indexes, numerals and writing has an almost instrument-style contrast, that looks very practical. In the f
SIHH 2014: Introducing the Vacheron Constantin Malte Small Seconds and Malte Tourbillon Openworked - Monochrome Watches
Nearly as old as the art of horology itself, Vacheron Constantin cemented its position as the father of the barrel-shaped watches known as tonneau cases, an iconographic design feature that has stood the test of time for over a century and continues to be a sign of prestige. The “tonneau” Malte collection is without question one of Vacheron’s gifts to the horological industry. With the hallmark of the Geneva seal in place, we know the company’s Malte piece will be truly something special, and this year at SIHH, we aren’t given just one, but rather two new Malte pieces from Vacheron Constantin. These two watches may come from the same line of tonneau cases, but the similarities end there. Having each been created under watchmaking's two different, overarching schools of thought, the new Malte pieces are polar opposites of one another. One favors refinement and balance; the other, sheer horological prowess. We introduce to you the new white gold Malte Small S
