Hands-On: The Stealthy Bell & Ross BR-X5 Black Titanium
For a brand that has consolidated its image on tool watches inspired by cockpit instruments, the choice of material forms an integral part of the identity of its watches. The BR-X5, the larger, more resilient, more radical brother of the BR-05 luxury sports watch, returns this year with a new lightweight titanium case. Still delivering the same time, date, and power reserve indications as the first BR-X5, the matte grey titanium case gives the watch an understated yet more powerful technical look. The launch of the BR-05 in 2019 marked a turning point in Bell & Ross' trajectory as the brand's first luxury sports watch with the much-touted, but often hard to define, urban' touch. Sticking to the round dial in a square case' design with four screws on the bezel that is the backbone of this brand, the mission was to tame its dashboard instrument-watch spirit and make it more chic. To do so, the case was reworked with more refined, rounder angles and fitted with an integrated bracelet.

Hands-On Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925 Silver 79010SG - Price
Aside from the classics that are steel, titanium, gold or platinum, watchmaking has been using multiple “innovative” materials. You can think about exotic metals such as tantalum, aluminium or bronze, or materials like ceramic, carbon fibre or even sapphire – and not even counting dozens of proprietary alloys… The story behind 925 silver is slightly different. No stranger to watchmaking, this alloy has, however, long been replaced by steel or gold to make cases, and its use is often relegated to the production of dials. This year, Tudor somehow innovates (“think different” would be more appropriate) by launching its star dive watch in a 925 silver case. And indeed, it looks rather stunning, as we’ll show in this first live encounter with the Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925.As said, 925 silver is (was actually) a familiar material in watchmaking. It was common to see pocket watches being made of solid silver, in the same vein as jewellery has be
Piece Unique - Vacheron Constantin Maitre Cabinotier Retrograde Armillary Tourbillon, using complications from the ref. 57260 - Monochrome Watches
In September 2015, in order to celebrate its 260th anniversary, the old and respectful Maison Vacheron Constantin unveiled what was the most complicated watch ever created with 57 complications, the Super-Complication, known under the ref. 57260. This is now the case, with a simpler watch bearing 2 of the mechanisms used in the 57260.
