Review of the Nomos Lambda 39mm - The Luxurious Gold Nomos in a smaller size (live photos, specs & price) - Monochrome-Watches
When you think “Nomos Glashutte“, what you probably have in your mind are rather small, clean watches inspired by Bauhaus (a German school of art, mixing modernism and simplicity) like the Nomos Ahoi?and the Nomos Tangente. Recently, the brand gained even more affection from us with the introduction of both complicated watches (see the Nomos Zurich Weltzeit) and fully in-house movements (with the Minimatik and?the new Calibre DUW 3001). What was not really expected from the brand however was some luxurious, gold, dress watches – but they did it (and they did it well) with the Lux and the Lambda. The latter comes now in an?even more elegant edition: Review of the Nomos Lambda 39mm – The Luxurious Gold Nomos in a smaller size.BackgroundIn the recent years, Nomos have been quite active. First, they’ve been moving to (almost) fully-in-house movements – and frankly not the worst ones, like for instance this automatic world-timer calibre that can be found
Interview - Luc Pettavino About Only Watch 2019
The eighth edition of the biennial fundraiser for research on Muscular Dystrophy will take place on Saturday 9 November 2019 in Geneva, where unique timepieces created by some of the world's best watchmakers will be auctioned. We took some time in Baselworld to meet its founder Luc Pettavino, President of the “Association Monegasque Contre les Myopathies”, to discuss the new edition and its programme. How did you start Only Watch?I was the organizer of the Monaco Yacht Show. In 1999, just before the Yacht Show, I saw a TV programme with Jean-Claude Biver. At the Yacht Show, Jean-Claude was visiting Wally Yachts, I went to introduce myself and Blancpain became a sponsor of the Yacht Show. This is how I got to know the Swatch Group. I had already created some themed charity auctions based on arts or unique creations from diverse brands (editor's note, Luc Pettavino's late son, Paul, suffered from muscular dystrophy). In 2004, I thought I was contributing to research but that w
TAG Heuer Monaco Heuer 02 Black Dial and Steel Bracelet
Since late 2019, the Monaco, the square icon of motorsport watchmaking by TAG Heuer, isn’t only one watch but a more complete collection based on two inspirations. First is the Calibre 11, a watch with strong 1970s and Steve McQueen inspiration, with an outsourced movement, the crown at 9 o’clock and a dial that recalls original models. Then there is the new Monaco Heuer 02, a more modern and classic take, which is powered by the brand’s calibre. The latter continues to expand with new dials and the addition of a stainless steel bracelet, for an even sportier attire. For several years, the Monaco collection has been built around two models. First are the vintage Calibre 11 watches, inspired by the original 1133B with its blue dial, horizontal applied indexes and its crown at 9 o’clock, which also gave birth to the Gulf edition. Next to it was the Calibre 12, a watch with a more modern, more classic style, thanks to its crown at 3 o’clock and radially positi
Tudor Black Bay Black Bezel / Red Triangle 79220N - EXCLUSIVE HANDS-ON REVIEW (live photos, specs & price) - Monochrome-Watches
The Tudor Black Bay is undoubtably a success story. You can’t deny its beauty, its quality or its darn right coolness. We loved?it at first sight here, on Monochrome-Watches, whether in its first Burgundy / Red 79220R execution?and even more with the?Midnight Blue 79220B edition, with it’s more subdued?colour?pallet. With the latest novelties from the brand?(Pelagos & North Flag), we we concerned Tudor may not continue to the?evolution?of the Black Bay – but thankfully, they didn’t, and we now have now a new edition, the Tudor Black Bay Black Bezel / Red Triangle ref. 79220N. And here is our?exclusive hands-on review of it.Designed by / for Monochrome-Watches?Well, clearly this is presumptuous of us. Of course, we didn’t designed it and we didn’t participate in the conception of this new?Tudor Black Bay Black Bezel / Red Triangle 79220N. However, let’s rewind and look back a few weeks before Baselword 2014. If you’re a regular reader
First Look: The Gerald Charles Masterlink Luxury Sports Watch
One trend that was once dominated by the big players in the watch industry and caught on with independent watch brands is the luxury sports watch. As one of the most popular, if not the most popular, watch categories, there are many candidates out there vying for your attention. While some flaunt their maritime or racing credentials, there are others that could be broadly categorised as dressy luxury sports watches, which is precisely the sub-genre that Gerald Charles enters with its brand-new Masterlink. Designed by Gerald Genta in 2006 for his Gerald Charles brand, the enigmatic contours of the Maestro case have been slimmed down and married to an integrated asymmetrical bracelet to become, the Masterlink.Although there have been sporty versions of the Maestro in Gerald Charles’ portfolio, like the GC Sport Titanium, the new, slimmer Masterlink with its integrated steel bracelet is a bona fide player in the luxury sports watch genre. The challenge for Octavio Garc¨ªa, creative d
