SalonQP is once again getting ready to open its doors in London later this month (22nd - 24th of November). With a new owner at the helm and a revised format planned, it seems the iconic location - London's Saatchi Gallery - is the only thing set to stay the same this year. Many familiar faces will be exhibiting at the event, along with a number of newcomers. Visitors will also be able to enjoy a series of immersive experiences, editorial exhibitions, live talks and exclusive evenings. Best of all, access to SalonQP is free this year. Read on for all the details, including the most up-to-date list available of confirmed brands exhibiting and how to register for your free ticket. Some ContextIt's fair to say that attendees at last year's SalonQP found the show to be a little underwhelming compared to previous years. Isolating a single reason is difficult - arguably there were several – but the overall vibe was just off. This is certainly not something that is unique to SalonQP. Ind
Breaking News: Stephane Linder, CEO of TAG Heuer, just resigned from his position - Monochrome-Watches
In news which will come as a surprise to few, considering the rumblings which have been coming from the Swiss Manufacturer in recent times, after 21 years with the company, CEO Stephan Linder?has just announced his resignation from TAG Heuer, with immediate effect. So, what does this mean for this giant among watch brands?BackgroundThe story began during Baselworld 2014 with the introduction of a brand new in-house movement, the Calibre 80, a nicely finished and technically advanced engine. the clear intention was to elevate?the brand into higher markets, with prices from 6,000 to 8,000 euros. Together with this new movement, TAG Heuer also announced the creation of a new production plant, based in Chevenez (we explained it first here). Hands-On: Some Thoughts about the Patek Philippe Calatrava 6196P
If you ask yourself what’s the most classic dress watch ever made by Patek, and probably one of the most important models of the category, the answer should ultimately be the Calatrava. Not much to debate here. The collection, created in 1932 with the reference 96, has had such an influence on the watch industry that the word icon is legitimate in this context. But in recent years, there’s been Calatravas and Calatravas… with pilot-inspired watches or weekly calendars. What matters today is the 96 lineage, the essential, timeless Calatrava. Luckily, the one we all have in mind has returned this year with the launch of the Calatrava 6196P. And here’s what I think about it.What is a Patek Philippe Calatrava (the 96 lineage)When we think about the Calatrava, we must immediately mention the all-important reference 96 by Patek Philippe, the watch that not only started this collection but also 1. saved Patek back in the days,? 2. launched a new style of case construct
Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin With Blue and Grey Dials For 2017 - Hands-On with Specs & Price
At SIHH 2017, some new Master Ultra-Thin watches went almost unnoticed, lost in the shadows?of the?cool Master Control with Sector Dial, which?stole the show. However, the old Maison was not short of watches to feed the 2017 catalogue. Today, we take a look at 4 unapologetically elegant watches with classic style and functions, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin Small Second, the Master Ultra-Thin MoonPhase, the Master Ultra-Thin Power Reserve and the Master Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar, all of them now paired with a grey or blue dial.Designing a classic watch is not an easy task. The focus?must be on the essentials as the devil is in the details. In this regard, Jaeger-LeCoultre excels at?creating superb round watches. Classic, under the radar, thin, elegant and devoid?of anything that would make them too showy but not boring either (far from that). With these 4 new Master Ultra-Thin watches, the Grande Maison brings a touch of color to the collection, adding an indisputable extr
Industry LVMH Announces Strong Results for Q1 2021
LVMH, the world's largest luxury goods company, has just released its results for the first quarter of 2021. At 14 billion euros, sales are up 32% compared to the first quarter of 2021 (+30% on an organic basis). This rebound was to be expected given the favourable comparison with sales from Q1 2020. Still, sales beat consensus estimates and are 8% above the first quarter of 2019, when the COVID-19 pandemic wasn’t something we would have even considered. This positive result echoes the rebound of luxury sales driven by China and the USA, while the recovery in Europe is slower; Q1 sales were up 86% in Asia excluding Japan, up 23% for the USA, up 85% for Japan and down 9% for Europe, where lockdowns policies are still in place in some countries. All activities contributed to this performance, with the exception of Selective Retailing, which was still impacted by the restrictions on international travel. For what is our main concern, at 1,883 million euros, the Watches & Jewelry b
