A year after its grand 50th-anniversary celebrations, Audemars Piguet releases a 41mm white gold edition of the Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph embellished with blue baguette-cut sapphires and light blue panda sub-dials. Corresponding to the latest design evolutions applied to the Royal Oak family last year, the spirit of Gerald Genta's 1972 Royal Oak lives on in tones of blue ticking to the sophisticated in-house integrated flyback chronograph movement. VIDEO - Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Concept, World's Thinnest Mechanical Watch
Now we see quite a few spectacular timepieces every year, sometimes when they’re about to be launched and sometimes when there’s still a lot?of work before it’s ready to be launched. But what we got to see at Piaget the other day, was simply unheard of, and properly mind-boggling. Piaget has created a watch with a thickness of just 2.00 millimetre. And I’m not talking about the movement, the entire watch is 2mm thick. That’s thinner than the leather strap on your watch, thinner than a Swiss five Franc coin.Piaget has a long history of ultra-thin watches, and they have set numerous records in this field. In 1957 they introduced the thinnest hand-wound movement ever, calibre?9P, that is only 2mm thick. Three years later they introduced the automatic calibre 12P measuring 2.3 mm thick. There have been much more in the past decades, and just a month ago they launched the thinnest automatic watch, measuring just 4.3mm thick, and with that crushing the previous

Buying Guide - Five watches with uniquely animated dials
The vast majority of wristwatches, mechanical or quartz, offers information on a flat 2D level. Sure, hands can be suspended a little bit above the dial, and you can even include some recessed or elevated indications for a chronograph or calendar complication, but that’s still on a horizontal plane. If you’re looking for a more dramatic and creative display of displaying time or any additional indications, you narrow it down to just a handful of brands. Sure, the inclusion of a tourbillon escapement visible on the dial side already changes things up, especially when it rotates on multiple axes. But what if you’re looking for even more than that? What if you want a watch with 3D animated displays and/or complications? Well, you’re in luck as these five watches might provide exactly what you’re looking for!Trilobe Une Folle JourneeWhen Trilobe first burst upon the independent watchmaking scene, it made some noise because of its unusual and captivating contin
