Pre-SIHH 2019 - IWC Big Pilots Watch Constant-Force Tourbillon Edition "Le Petit Prince" IW590303 - Specs & Price
Among the four watches that IWC introduces for its pre-SIHH 2019 collection are three ‘standard’?pieces – a chronograph, a double-chronograph and a world time – and one very exclusive, complicated piece; the?IWC Big Pilot's Watch Constant-Force Tourbillon Edition “Le Petit Prince” IW590303?(yes, quite a name…) Nevertheless, if some will point to a lack of relevance and a strong departure from the tool/pilot watch concept, what remains is a superb piece of mechanical art, which features a rare complication: a constant-force tourbillon.Meet the first tourbillon ever fitted to an IWC Pilot’s watch. While we’ve seen various complications featured on Big Pilot’s (QP, annual calendar or even a digital QP-chronograph), it is the first time that IWC integrates a regulating organ of this kind in this collection. The tourbillon is usually reserved for dressier watches, such as the Portugieser, the Da Vinci or the Portofino. And for this
LVMH 2020 Full Year Results, Resilience Despite Lockdowns, Impact on Watches
Following mixed mid-year announcements, grearly impacted by a series of lockdowns in Europe and Asia, we certainly not expected the world’s leader in luxury to present positive results for the full year 2020. Especially since the soft and hard luxury industries have been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. LVMH just released its 2020 Full Year Results and the French luxury powerhouse shows resilience with sales down in a less dramatic way than expected and even strong recovery for the last quarter in certain markets. Altogether, sales are down 17% and profit, even though still positive, is slightly more impacted. Before having a closer look at our main topic of interest (watches), it must noted that the French luxury powerhouse still demonstrate its overall resilience and an impressive strength of its brands. Altogether, sales on the period are down 17% at EUR 44,651 million, versus EUR 53,670 million in 2019. Remember that, over the first semester of 2020, the group was re
Video - Hands-On with the The Ulysse Nardin Blast Tourbillon
A couple of weeks ago, the MONOCHROME team visited Geneva Watch Days, which will probably be the only major watch fair for Europe this year. On this occasion, we visited brands, talked with their teams and, of course, saw some of the models recently introduced in the metal – and yes, after months of digital-only presentations, this really made a difference. And of course, some watches made quite an impression on us, such as the new Ulysse Nardin Blast Tourbillon, a bold, radical and modern take on the brand’s new design codes. And with our latest video, you can also discover this watch in motion. To explain this new high-end, complex and striking watch, we talk to Ulysse Nardin’s Chief Product Officer, Jean-Christophe Sabatier, giving us the full story on how the brand developed this new movement, how the watch was designed and how – something quite rare – both elements have been, from the very beginning, imagined jointly, and not as separate parts. In fact

Online Watch Shopping While the Confinement Lasts - Monochrome Watches
Team MONOCHROME is working from home. This is our regular work mode since we’re spread all over Europe (and one in the US), but the way we work has been heavily affected. The closure of manufactures means less access to new watches to photograph and review.? All my trips to watch events/launches to shoot new videos and all my scheduled meetings have been cancelled. As I said last week, we have enough good stuff on its way to offer you plenty of horological relief in between all the daily Corona updates, working from home, home-schooling and so on. There’s a tendency to forget that people celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and maybe even graduations or have other very good reasons to buy a watch in these troublesome times. With many brick and mortar shops closed, we’re giving a big shout-out to our online buddies/competitors/friends of the watch community.?A selection of the cool items available from the MONOCHROME Webshop.Like all our friends/competitors in the onlin
