Roger Dubuis Pulsion Skeleton Flying Tourbillon in Titanium - REVIEW (Photos, Specs & Price) - Monochrome Watches
At the Monochrome desks we see many impressive timepieces, and we even have the good fortune to get to wear many of them for some weeks. Each and every of them excels in its own field, however if we don’t like it, we don’t write about it. That’s our our own rule. When we had the chance to review the Lange & Sohne Datograph and Double Split or the JLC Master Ultra-Thin there was no sign of hesitation or doubt and we wholeheartedly and immediately agreed to do a review. However when we got the chance to review the Roger Dubuis Pulsion Skeleton Flying Tourbillon, there was a brief hesitation. As said… it was brief, and very soon made place for tremendous delight.Roger Dubuis is not know for being discrete or modest in its looks. Except perhaps the La Monegasque collection?that was introduced in 2011, however all other collections are quite distinct. And so is the watch at hand today. At least that’s what I thought at first, however soon I found out that t
Hands-On With the Stunning AP Royal Oak Offshore Beast Black Ceramic
The Beast… Probably the second most emblematic watch of Audemars Piguet. A watch that, like its Genta-designed 1972 ancestor, broke the rules and created an entirely new segment of watches. Extravagant, oversized and polarising at the time of its introduction 30 years ago, it defined the ultra-robust luxury sports watch genre. The first Royal Oak Offshore, a.k.a The Beast, truly was a beast of a watch. And to celebrate three decades of the ROO, Audemars Piguet has released a new version in full black ceramic… And surprisingly, this is a first for this collection. The result, this new Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph 42mm Black Ceramic 26238CE, is simply stunning. The Beast in black ceramic is a gift for hardcore fans of the collection.?ContextWe’ve extensively covered the first-generation Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore “The Beast” in this article. Its genesis was the answer to a changing market, with customers wanting something more striking,
Ferdinand Berthoud, Chronometry and the FB1-R Regulator
Resurrecting the Ferdinand Berthoud name, an eminent 18th-century horologist, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele (co-president of Chopard) and his team have shown quite a talent to surprise and amaze us. The niche, high-end brand has presented several creations that are not just nostalgic products but modern wristwatches. These are nonetheless loyal to the legacy of the name Berthoud. In particular, the brand's first modern opus, the Chronometre FB1 was awarded the Aiguille d'Or at the GPHG 2016, the Oscars of watchmaking.? Ferdinand Berthoud was born in 1727 near Neuchatel, Switzerland but moved to Paris to practise his trade. He left behind an exceptional legacy and a broad body of work, in particular in the field of marine chronometers as watchmaker-mechanic to the French King and the Navy (Horloger Mecanicien du Roi et de la Marine).Reviving his name, chronometry has come to occupy a very special place. Based on the same calibre architecture, all modern Ferdinan
Collector's Series - @winewhiskywatches & Breguet Tradition 7047
There are collectors and there are collectors… For today’s instalment of the Collector’s Series, we had a chat, or actually a long talk, with a seasoned, passionate and very knowledgeable collector who’s known under the Instagram handle @winewhiskywatches. In previous instalments, he already talked about three other watches in his (pretty impressive) collection, the infamous IWC Big Pilot Safari, the?MB&F Legacy Machine 1 and the Armin Strom Mirrored Force Resonance. The latter being over-engineered time-only watches, with a strong focus on chronometry. And today’s watch, the all-mighty Breguet Tradition 7047 Grande Complication Fusee Tourbillon is exactly in the same vein. So let’s hear what winewhiskywatches has to say about this watch – and I can already tell you that he’ll shed a completely new light on this watch!Frank Geelen, MONOCHROME – Let's start with my standard opening question: Why Breguet?
