The A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Moon Phase, or the Essence of German Symmetry - Monochrome Watches
When A. Lange & Sohne is mentioned, it is easy to dream. It is easy to dream because of names like Datograph, Zeitwerk or Double-Split. These watches can be found on so many watch collectors’ wish-list (and not only Lange aficionados), and for extremely good reasons, as clearly, they are all watchmaking?pinnacles, grail watches, dream-machines… and they are all rather inaccessible. So the main question that I’ll have today, with the?A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Moon Phase, is simple:?is there something special about?A. Lange & Sohne in general and will this “reasonable offer” give me the same pleasure? You will have to read ‘a few lines of text’ to find my answer…The Saxonia Moon Phase Full Moon JourneyBesides reviewing?this watch, I also had it in my hands (and on my wrist) for another reason.?A. Lange & Sohne indeed asked 16 journalists, from 16 cities around the world and during 16?synodical months (the Lunar month) to part
Your Guide to the "Dirty Dozen" - Including the Only British Member, VERTEX - Monochrome Watches
In our modern age of smartphones and wearable tech, it's easy to forget just how indispensable the humble mechanical wristwatch once was. Yet even a brief foray into the world of military watches is enough to provide a vivid reminder. Rugged, reliable and entirely fit-for-purpose, these simple timekeepers have played a critical role in the successful execution of military operations that dramatically shaped the course of modern history. Particularly during World War II, the period which we will be focusing on for the purpose of this article. Arguably the best-known such watches from this era are those of the British Military. More specifically, the Dirty Dozen. The 12 watches that compose the so-called “Dirty Dozen” – Photo by A Collected ManBackgroundChances are you're already familiar with the Dirty Dozen, or have at least heard the name. That's probably because the Dozen is amongst the most sought-after series by military watch collectors. If you're not familiar wit
Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m GMT Goodplanet - REVIEW (Photos, Specs and Price) - Monochrome Watches
In 2005 Omega launched its Planet Ocean collection, a second collection of dive watches, positioned above the Seamaster Professional collection (the James Bond watch) and it has been a huge success since day one. The Seamaster Planet Ocean is available in two sizes, 42mm and 45.5mm, and in 2011 Omega introduced the Seamaster Planet Ocean Chronograph 9300, which we reviewed and photographed for you here. Two years later, in 2013, Omega introduced the long-expected Seamaster Planet Ocean GMT. We’re going to review the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m GMT Goodplanet for you today. The Seamaster Planet Ocean GMT, or short PO-GMT, is available in the known colour codes of the Planet Ocean, with a black dial and silver/white markers and hands. Only the tip of the GMT hand and the word GMT on the dial are in orange. There’s also a special model with a navy blue dial and bezel that is created as a tribute to the partnership between Omega and the GoodPlanet Foundation. And that̵
Weekly Watch Photo - Omega Watch Art - Monochrome Watches
Omega will be launching something new tomorrow, something exiting, but I don’t know what! Because of this, they are showing some incredible mechanical art pieces and Monochrome will share these as our Weekly Watch Photo. A slightly different WWP, but as good as the normal WWP.?From time to time, I’m browsing through Ebay, searching for some new, something old, something… well, something with a ticking mechanical movement inside. And sometimes I find these incredible products of someone with a lot of patience. Someone who made a small motorbike or car from old watch parts. I’m always amazed by how cool these pieces of art actually are. Omega must have thought the same, as they showed some computer graphics that remind me of the aforementioned art. Introducing Ulysse Nardin Ocean Race Diver Chronograph Limited
The provenance of Ulysse Nardin might be a small, landlocked country, but thanks to its marine chronometers, the brand from Le Locle has always been closely associated with the sea since 1846. By the 1870s, Ulysse Nardin supplied more than 50 navies and merchant marine companies with precision marine deck chronometers. Today, the brand underscores its maritime credentials as the official timing partner of the exciting Ocean Race. Regarded as the longest (60,000 km) and toughest round-the-world team sailing challenge since 1973, the 14th edition of The Ocean Race kicked off in Alicante, Spain, in January 2023. Docking in nine cities around the globe over six months and finishing in Genoa in June, the teams have embarked on their fifth leg from Newport, Rhode Island, to Aarhus, Denmark. Taking advantage of the pit stop in Rhode Island and celebrating The Ocean Race’s 50th anniversary, Ulysse Nardin unveiled a 100-piece edition of its Ocean Race Diver Chronograph. The Ocean RaceOrigi
