Introducing: AP Unveils A Coloured & Lumed Forged Carbon Case for the ROC Split-Seconds
With its ultra-contemporary design, the Royal Oak Concept collection has always been a vessel for innovation at AP, and that since its creation in 2002. First with a cobalt-based super-alloy (Alacrite 602), the Audemars Piguet ROC collection has used some of the brand’s most complex movements, daring designs or advanced materials. Now, it’s time for AP to premiere its latest innovation in terms of materials. Following the Chroma Ceramic concept and a camouflage gold alloy known as chroma gold, here’s Chroma Forged Technology (CFT), a brand-new coloured forged carbon with luminescent pigments. And it’s featured in a new version of the impressive Royal Oak Concept Split-Seconds Chronograph GMT.?It’s been eight years since AP hasn’t unveiled a watch in forged carbon. First used by the brand in 2007 (and back then a first for the industry), forged carbon differs from conventional carbon, which relies on a classic woven pattern. With forged carbon, shorte
Buying Guide: Shopping For Creatively Complex Watches On a Budget
In our fascinating little bubble of mechanical watchmaking, attention often goes to high-dollar watches, and most of the time, that’s for a perfectly logical reason. The arms race in complexity is partly to blame, as brands try to outdo one another for the sake of winning over the public. But adding a complication on top of telling basic time doesn’t necessarily have to equate to ludicrous pricing, thankfully. There are brands, and mostly independent watchmakers out there, that know how to bring creativity and complexity with more sensible sticker prices. With that in mind, we’ve set ourselves a somewhat reasonable budget of EUR 5,000 and have done some digging to see what we can come up with!Raymond Weil Millesime 35 MoonphaseFirst up is one of the most refreshing watch collections we’ve seen in a long time, the Raymond Weil Millesime. Applauded for its ravishingly good looks and sensible watchmaking, one of the more beguiling models is the Millesime 35 Moonpha

On the occasion of Geneva Watch Days, Bvlgari brought back one of its iconic designs, presenting a modern take of the late 1990s innovative, sporty watch in aluminium and rubber. One of the Rome-based jeweller’s numerous charitable initiatives in this difficult period, Bvlgari now releases an exclusive limited series on behalf of three Italian children's hospitals.Revenue from the sale of the first 50 exclusive and numbered timepieces in the series will be donated entirely by Bvlgari to the “Un Dono dal Cielo” (A Gift from Heaven) fundraising project. Launched by the Aeronautica Militare to mark the centenary of the proclamation of the Madonna of Loreto as Patroness of all Aeronauts (scheduled for the whole of 2020 and extended to the end of 2021), the funds will support three Italian children's hospitals - Giannina Gaslini in Genoa, Bambino Ges¨´ in Rome and Santobono Pausilipon in Naples. The second 1,000-piece non-numbered series will be available internationally fr
Hands-On - The 2022 TAG Heuer Carrera x Porsche Limited Edition
During Watches and Wonders 2022, TAG Heuer has unveiled its second chronograph stemming from its partnership with Porsche. This partnership between the two brands was announced in 2021 and resulted from an entwined history marked by an obsession with speed and motorsports. Following the first classic stainless steel version, the TAG Heuer Carrera x Porsche is back in a black-and-yellow limited edition for 2022.?First and foremost, the brands have in common the Carrera name that was incarnated by Jack Heuer's 1963 chronograph and some of the carmaker's most powerful creations. In particular, both Jack Heuer and Ferry Porsche were fascinated by La Carrera Panamericana, a perilous endurance race staged in Mexico that ended up inspiring the name of Jack Heuer's chronograph and the top-performing sports cars produced by Porsche.
