A. Lange & Sohne at Concours of Elegance, An Interview with CEO Wilhelm Schmid And Tons of Car/Watch Photos - Monochrome Watches
Had you been walking past Hampton Court this weekend, no doubt you would you have heard the roar from the dozens of fine vintage specimens manoeuvring around the palace for the Concours of Elegance. This year was the first time A. Lange & Sohne had supported the event – though, you would be forgiven for confusing this Concourse of Elegance classic car event with the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este at?Lake Como. Both events are supported by Lange, but this show held at Hampton Court Palace is, in fact, no relation to the one on Lake Como. Still, we were there, we enjoyed the scenery (cars and watches are always a winning combo - especially Lange x Classic Cars) and we talked with CEO Wilhelm Schmid. The home of the 2018 Concours of Elegance, Hampton Court.Running from the 31 August to 2 September, the Concours of Elegance began at Windsor Castle in 2012, before moving to St James' Palace in 2013. The show then moved on to Hampton Court Palace in 2014 at the Palace
SIHH 2012 - the new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph - Monochrome Watches
By now it should be no secret anymore that Audemars Piguet revamped the Royal Oak collection and I’ve already shared my enthusiasm about the Royal Oak Jumbo. Another one that, in my humble opinion,?looks absolutely superb, is the new Royal Oak Chronograph.?The new Royal Oak Chronograph is 2 mm larger than its predecessor, that measured 39 mm in diameter.?While I usually cheer for downsizing, I was amazed to feel how incredibly comfortable the RO Chrono is and how perfect the fit is. Ad - Scroll to continue with article Last year I tried a friend’s Royal Oak Jumbo for a week and my conclusion was that it just was not my kind of watch. He also has a RO Chrono, that looks magnificent, but again, not my choice. So imagine my amazement when trying the new Royal Oak Jumbo and the new Royal Oak Chronograph. When I put it on my wrist, it was like everything
The 2021 Revamped Omega Seamaster 300 Collection (hands-on photos)
Launched in 2014, the Omega Seamaster 300 – not to be confused with the more modern James Bond Seamaster Diver 300M – has been the brand’s vintage evocation of the original 1957 Seamaster 300. Still, its previous iteration (2014) was perhaps a bit too technical and sporty. Well, Omega has apparently understood that and for 2021, introduces an entirely revamped model. If the basics are still here, meaning a look inspired by the 1957 reference CK2913, the case, the dial, the movement, and most details are new. And there’s even an unprecedented bronze-gold version coming, in a one-of-a-kind alloy. Let’s have a first look, in the metal, at this 2021 Omega Seamaster 300 Collection.Introduced in 1957 alongside the first Speedmaster and the Railmaster – thus creating the iconic Professional trilogy – the Seamaster 300 represents one of the brand’s most important and most influential watches. Its design, with its typical 2-part bezel – comb
Bovet 19Thirty Dimier with blue dial - live pics, specs & price - Monochrome Watches
You know us here at Monochrome-Watches. Apart from the big names, there is something?that we especially love here: independent watchmaking. We do have a special appeal for watches manufactures by independent, smaller and creative watchmakers, not because they are always better executed?than those from the bigger brands, but mainly because they have something extra: a soul, a link to the people behind their construction, a certain originality that large brands can’t achieve (mainly for commercial reasons…). In order to experience (again) this feeling, we did get our hands-on a rather unique watch, the?Bovet 19Thirty Dimier with blue dial.Brief overview of Bovet 1822For those who aren’t aware of this brand, there are certain important facts to know. Bovet isn’t just another new brand, which design watches and assembled them with outsourced movements. Here, we’re talking about a proper integrated manufacture, with a strong history. Video - The Oris Watches of Baselworld 2019 Explained by Co-CEO Rolf Studer
There’s no denying that Oris is good at creating tool watches. Last year’s theme for the brand was clearly the pilot’s watch, with several very nice introductions, such as the Big Crown Pointer Date. For Baselworld 2019, Oris goes back to another theme it masters – dive watches. And to add another layer of cool to the equation, Oris focuses on the environment with two important watches, as well as a rather unexpected two-tone Sixty-Five – which happens to be co-CEO Rolf Studer’s favourite of the show, as you’ll see in this video interview with him.Oris’ reputation is as solid as its robust and efficient dive watches. The collection includes a watch that needs no introduction anymore, the Aquis, which serves as a base for two interesting projects this year, both based on the environment and protection of the oceans.
